If the country is going towards dictatorship as being discussed here, the country’s armed forces must intervene and bring democracy back. Otherwise, what’s the use of having armed forces if can’t serve the masses or public. I think armed forces can play an important role in not just safeguarding the county from external forces, but also from internal elements who try to bring Xi Jiping, Putin and Kim Jong kind of rules in the country that suffered so much under the British rule for two centuries, who clearly knew the repercussions of dictatorial regime like the British empire.
