From Dishwasher to CEO: How One of the Youngest Hoteliers Did It

Follow hosco.tv to Abu Dhabi’s Happiness Island, where we sit down with Nehme Imad Darwiche, founder and CEO of Jannah Hotels & Resorts, to talk about his unique career story. The 31-year-old Darwiche is not your typical CEO, and he says the reason for his early success comes down to one word: determination. As a 19-year-old hotel dishwasher, Darwiche set an ambitious goal for himself: by 22, he would be F&B manager. He reached that goal, plus a few more, and now he’s the CEO of a rapidly growing, forward-thinking hotel company looking to “reshuffle” hospitality the way we know it. For Darwiche, success is all about hiring the right people and making sure they believe in what they are doing. He says that Jannah is going to be very busy for the next 25 years. Is it possible for someone to go from Dishwasher to CEO ? Yes, it is. I also started out as a Dishwasher and became CEO years later. He is right, it takes determination most of all but that alone is not enough. In addition to very strong determination one needs a good plan and the willingness to put in the work required. Good mentors along the way will help pave the way. Most people however are not willing to put in the work, lack the determination, the plan and good mentors.
