But in rural areas, it is not always the case. True that they give birth to many children, but most of these children are just deprived. If you give them opportunity to better education and better way of life, they learn and appreciate the way of life that they have. Rural areas are vital to society. Farmers are the backbone of economy. And farming is a laborious task. Having many children would mean more will take responsibility in taking care of the farm and helping their parents if some of the siblings would choose to move out and work in the city. Now, about your resources problem being screwed, whatever shit you learn from media and whichever country you come from, India is second largest population but their culture has always abundance in terms of food. I'm a filipino and tell you that indian food is so special than any other cuisines I have tasted. The spices you enjoy now originated in India. The wealth the fucking british enjoys are stolen wealth from India. They ar only reviving a lost land due to wrong practices. It has been corrected by teaching and Cooperation and the fruit of their labor has paid off. Now about consumption, again, whatever shit you learned from the media, we don't have food shortage. Only lack of aerable/fertile land like what most people in Australia and middle east has. The earth is so big if u are truly aware that a few villages who are taught to harvest water will not be a burden to mother nature. Farmers in villages are the most low carbon footprint people. They will not deplete the resources if you teach them the consequences instead of leaving them to suffer. The only solution is for people to move out of the city and be sustainable. Farmers don't over indulge themselves like city folks do. And to say that having many children is shitty only means you lack the idea of why civilization was established and why countries like canada are encouraging immigration. People are also resources. The earth will not be depleted if people live frugal lives like the farmers. Shame on you for looking down on them when people from the city contributes more waste and consumes beyond their need.

There have been so many movies made by famous directors/producers and actors about farmers committing suicide due to drought. They have made millions out of the misery of the poor farmers. But Amir Khan is a great actor and activist who has made life changing work to uplift the living condition of poor farmers. I hope Paani Foundation will spread its wings to other parts of India facing similar problems. God Bless Amir Khan and all members of Paani Foundation.

drought is not made by nature but manmade. this is such a true observation. they did not know how to manage their water they did not know how to manage their land this led to them clearing the land for more crops and over fertilising these made the soil lose it's biome but also the biomass retained the water slowing it down to percolate into the ground but instead it became runoff and the situation worsened from there. the simple mindset of water harvesting using permaculture systems has turned these previously drought regions into regenerative and sustainable food and water future proof systems. and these changes happening very quickly seemingly like nature itself knew how to balance itself back to fertility requiring only the basic inputs for man to not interfere but also to not degrade the land with clearing; this allowed for the water to drain into the land like a sponge and this then percolated into the lowest contour areas of the land like the ponds used for irrigation; in turn the ponds would be refilled by the source of the saturated ground that had absorbed the water from the rains that would then keep the pond filled.

I am from kolkata and the heat this year has become unbearable.would love to join a similar organisation which goes around planting trees during the monsoons.Only trillions of trees in our vast country can bring down temperatures.Thanks for the inspiration...
