The main thing about this movie is that it's a great role for Tom Savini, the guy who created the special effects for many of the classic horror movies of the 1980s. He's probably done more than any single individual to shape the look of modern horror movies. You should probably familiarize yourself with the work of Selma Hayak who played the vampire queen Satanico Pandemonium because if you think she was something in this movie, you haven't seen anything yet.

The Sheriff who is killed at the start of this movie is the same actor who played the Sheriff in Kill Bill. This has fed into a fan theory that all Tarantino films share a loose continuity, like the MCU. The theory goes in this film that it's not just the same actor, it's the same character. The massacre at the Wedding Rehearsal took place sometime before the events of this movie, though most of the rest of the events of Kill Bill take place after. You already noticed the connection of the burger joint from Pulp Fiction. Happy Hallowbeans! I’m very ready for holidays now. This year has been absolute crap. Edit: Ash, you absolutely need to see Little Shop of Horrors, the musical version, of course. You will truly love that film. Have a wonderful day all.
@GMJ72 жыл бұрын
I'm hoping for Little Shop one of these days too. At least three confirmed "future ex-husbands" for her to gush over in the same movie! The same composer and lyricist duo who made The Little Mermaid such a success just a few years later as well - and we already know Ashleigh loves that movie. If she ever sees LSoH, I hope she reacts to both endings. One is perfectly suited to Halloween and the other provides a fairytale finish she'd love.

I remember when this came out, I saw it at a friends house and we had no idea it was a vampire movie. So as you can imagine we were shocked when the big reveal happened. But George Clooney, Quentin Tarantino, Harvey Kaitel, Juliette Lewis, Salma Hawek, Cheech Marin, Danny Trejo, Fred Williamson and Tom Savini. It's like the greatest cast for a horror movie ever. Also this has my favorite quote of all time. "Did they look like psychos? Psychos do not explode when sunlight hits them, I don't give a $@^& how crazy they are!"

Dude. I stopped playing Animal Crossing the second I saw this was uploaded, it's that good! I just fucking love this and I loved watching your reactions, especially when it turned the corner and you saw the vampires!! Yeah, as others have said, Tarantino wrote the script and Robert Rodriguez directed, the story was written by a dude who made his name in Special Effects, probably studying the work of the guy who played Sex Machine. The cast is SO Robert Rodriguez, too - most of the more prominent cast, aside from George Clooney, Harvey Keitel, and Juliette Lewis are in almost all his movies, as are the two guys standing either side of Carlos at the end...you really should check out the rest of Rodriguez's filmography, he's brilliant.

Another horror movie that's a fun ride is "13 Ghosts". "The Innkeepers" is an underrated horror movie that's a bit different, but in a good way, and a fun watch as well. DUDE!!! YES!!! LOVE THIS MOVIE!! It's frickin Amazing! One minute it's a heist thriller then the next, it turns into a vampire action horror film! I watched this with my family on VHS, as well as Eraser and Fantastic Voyage. There is a TV series based on the movie that was released on the now defunct El Rey Network that ran from 2015-2017, with 30 episodes. Some of the episodes show the origin of The Gekko Brothers, Richie's Visions and what really happened to Jacob Fuller's wife.

I love watching this movie with someone blind to the whole premise. The genuine shock halfway through the movie gets me. Sadly there's very few reactions because almost everybody knows it's about vampires by now! Even the TV previews spoiled it back when it came out!

Honestly, people are less likely to know the vampire twist if they come to it new these days, since they won't have likely seen all the trailers that focused heavily on the second half of the film. Ahh, trailers, spoiling movies since time immemorial.

A lot of now famous actors in this movie. Selma Hyak, Cheech Marin, Danny Trejo to name a few. Tom Savini and his team of makeup artists and practical effects designers worked on the props, kills, and vampire prosthetics. Savini even designed the "Crotch Pistol", which required several puppeteers to operate. 1 made the flap drop down, 1 to raise the pistol, 2 to rotate each of the cylinders (1 per cylinder), and 1 to "shoot" the gun.
