FROM FOREST TO DESERT! | Riding Mt. Lemmon in Tucson, Arizona!

We had no idea Tucson had mountain biking, but after a little research, we discovered Mt. Lemmon a mountain with with over 6000 ft of elevation! Who knew this existed in the desert! We rode, Green Mountain, Bug Springs, Prison camp, the Arizona Trail and La Milagrosa.

44°F at the top and 101° at the bottom when i did this ride solo on a hardtail 29er for my birthday last year..... Brutal and sooo much fun. Great job doung it in 7 hours. It took me 10!

That made me home sick! I moved from Tucson about 15 years ago. I miss it so. The ride you did was actually my farewell ride I did with my Az. friends and I used to ride up and then back down Prison Camp every Thurs. night as a training ride. There is a lot of great stuff on Mt. Lemmon as well as some of the best desert riding anywhere in Tucson! Hope you were able to enjoy more of it!

So Mt Lemmon is the highest point in the Santa Catalina Mountains which reach an elevation of 9159 feet. At and near the very top are Aspens and a ski area which doesn’t open every year and is not good for beginners. Fantastic biodiversity and winter weather also.

Hey, if you're ever back in Tucson, you should hit up a trail system know as 50 year trail to golder ranch! It's a bit more north and on the other side of Mt Lemmon near Catalina, but it has some awesome chutes and rock features! Bug's is my favorite and Golder Ranch is a close second

Well on a smaller scale, you can get that kind of transition out around Kamloops. Holds a special place in my heart for biking, that dusty town. And I see that that lady of yours is still rocking the old Norco... She needs a new Range, man. Norco should get on that.

Tucson an undiscovered gem? There's trails all over along with an annual Tour De Tucson which brings in people from all over. The bike community is freakin massive. Also, the entire month of February the entire city turns into the biggest gem show in the world.

So I live in Tucson and this is my first legit season of Mt biking coming from BMX. Compared to California where I used to live Tucson has ALOT of MTB trails and areas. I have a hard tail so you can understand when I say Green mt. Trail fucked my life up. I fell like 6 different times and I'm bruised and cut all over. But even just IN THE TOWN there are a few spots where you can ride and it's pretty awesome. If anyone is in Tucson and looking for some trails just head to a bike shop and get some info.

Hey, if you're still around make sure to check out the riding on the northwest side of town near Oro Valley. You'll want to check out the 50-year trail being sure to hit the Chutes, and the Upper 50-year trail. On the other side of Catalina Highway, you'll want to check out the Honeybee Canyon area trails, maybe linking them to the Tortolita area trails.
