Nothing against Trey Lance but Purdy stepped in and immediately led the 49'ers to 6 straight wins in 2022. He earned the QB starter last year and then it was only a matter of time before Lance gets traded.

Purdy has been amazing to watch..... He exhibits confidence and the game is not too fast for him. Great vision and cool on the pocket and able to go through his reads like a veteran.... He is lucky to land in the perfect spot for him. A team with a great cast and a gifted coach who can help him play to his strengths.

Brock Purdy has to be one of the biggest steals in NFL draft history. He’s the real deal, he’s gone from Mr. Irrelevant to Mr. Can’t do without him. Ngl I’m a big Seahawks fan, but I like Brock Purdy a lot. He’s quite the qb in the pocket and I watched him smush our defense into a pulp twice and that was more than enough to make me respect him. He deserved to be picked higher. I watched some of his film from college before the draft and I thought he looked pretty good, but I guess scouts didn’t see much in him.

IOWA STATE CYCLONES. In Iowa, it seems so Hawkeye Nation that it's nice to see STATE gets some love, too. I worked in Boone, Iowa, one summer minutes from State. 50 years later, the one thing I remember the most is all those beautiful girls going to school there. I'm from South Dakota, but Iowa rocks all over.

There's a pattern here. 1. There isn't a lot of game film for the defense to analyze. So that new quarterback is an unknown quantity. 2. Many of the receivers, runners are doing many of their reps with the backup quarterback...so he knows them well. 3. That backup quarterback wears a redshirt in practice and isn't getting hit hard...so they go into the games fearless...but they learn. All three of those factors can turn on a new quarterback in follow on games and seasons...especially if their team doesn't invest in the offensive line and offensive targets.
