I was not aware that forestry was so well developed in Indiana. About fifty years ago logging was more hands-on . . . I lasted about one summer setting choker. Many years later I would find myself moving oil rigs with a bridle. I always liked big machines. This was a good look at something different.

Here in NZ log trucks are generally a truck and trailer configuration, as opposed to an articulated unit shown here Chris. After dropping the load at a shipping port, the trailer is loaded onto the truck deck to save wear on tyres when running unloaded. Bob NZ.

It's so nice to see this for me. You are so long away from from Nordic professional forestry as you can be! It's here top 2 persons working in same area doing 8 hours shifts. One going first with a harvester and after that a forwarder picking up ready length delimbed logs and drive them sorted out to timber truck road and make piles. Trucks have mostly own cranes and load up on demand the ordered variety in a total set weight up to 74 or 90 metric tonnes in Sweden. Mostly the heavy work is done in wintertime to avoid ground and truck road damage. Other times it's ground preparation if needed before seeding/planting and thinning two times before old growth harvest.
