You lucky bastards! You came across a crossed viper (Kreuzotter: Vipera berus)! In my country (Switzerland) they are so hard to find. They live at high altitudes in the Alps in moors and places only researchers know. I wish I will see one of these one day.

Can I give you advice? Why I ask, I'll tell you that anyway? Take old broken bicycle. Take of it's front part, from handle bar, to a wheel. Put a luggage rack on it and panniers. And tada, a monowheel cart is ready!!! I shit you not, It's a easiest way to transport your 50kg of weight around, even in deep forest and mountains. My monowheel cart have a rack big enough to put 2 full size back packs on it.
