It literally has number of episodes where they couldn’t make it clear that their “love” for each other is romantic. That is just brain dead shojou writing

Oh please, that little issue was like only like 10 chapters in a 123 chapter manga, no relationship would be smooth sailing 24/7, they moved past it. Kimi ni Todoke was 100x healthier than Twilight and one of the most healthiest romances in the shoujo genre, not to mention the friendship between the 3 main girls (even Kurumi becomes likable) was good too. It may not be a masterpiece in the conventional way but it is in no way trash.
