I love Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette) of NCIS. She is a beautiful gothic "mad scientist" girl. She uses American Sign Language (ASL) to communicate with Deaf people or Gibbs. I am a fan of NCIS and Abby. I would chat her in ASL.

Yes- ABBY, A FICTIONAL CHARACTER- knows ASL. PAULEY, THE REAL LIFE HUMAN- is a rock star and does NOT know ASL so she won't be chatting. Not putting down ASL because I think it's awesome and I use it with my Grandma but we need to separate the character from the person. Actors are people. They are not the people they play.

I imagine for a while they did her makeup but then she did it. A makeup artist shouldn't have to do the actors makeup EVERY time, but the DO need to make sure it's done correctly and the same for each shoot.

Good to see our daily routine explained in a simple and accessible way, for all to know ! That doesn't take any of the "magic" out of the thing... but kinda helps everyone understanding these jobs (as all other ones) take time, skills, concentration, preparation, patience (etc.)... to be done the right way. Exemple : for just a "bald effect" on an actress/actor with hair, make-up work can go way beyond 4 jours. And I'm not even considering any special effect at all... which can double or triple this !
