As someone who just finished a research masters where there was barely any previous research, I 100% agree that it can make your life more difficult, especially when there's no one in your research group doing anything similar 😭 the literature was tough, and I wasn't confident writing my results section because there were no previous results to compare mine against in some sections but I will say that I think the experience has made me more competent as a research and hopefully a bit more prepared for a PhD if I get into one...but plus side the research gap was very easy to find 😂
