My compliments! It is truly great to see a master metal worker make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. He transformed a hopeless mess of a car design to evolve into a prize winning concept. Again, my compliments!

At 5 years of age in early June 1954, I first remember seeing my maternal grandmother. She lived on a 960-acre farm in the Texas Panhandle. Meeting us at the foot of the long driveway, she had stepped from a new, brown Packard Sedan. She stood a little over 5 ft tall, a stunningly attractive 64 year old brunette. She wore Western lady's pants held up by a Western belt. I didn't know till years later she would always have a pearl handled Colt 45 close at hand. She was the 1st woman I ever saw in pants. But the Packard, I remember how smoothly the engine ran and how comfortable it rode. For her this was the last Packard she would own. Cadillac was moving quickly into more modern and exclusively fashionable cars, as Packard seemed to dwell on past glories.

The metal fabrication and the old school lowering, along with the taillight lens fabrication were over the top. Things not covered were the engine, brakes, electrical and interior. The car looks Way Kool. I would like to see a supplement on the aforementioned.

👍👍 Ian!!! WOW it's gorgeous! And this is probably the most tasteful customization of a not so pretty vintage car I've run across to date. The sleek new lines of the car wouldn't be out of place had it rolled out of the Packard factory this way back in 1948. Even the slightly lowered stance looks perfect. Best of all are its original mechanicals and, I guess, the interior as well. Gotta admit, as an old fart, it's heartbreaking to see so many vintage American cars being completely bastardized to the point they're barely recognizable. Add to that those sporting ridiculous severely overdone clownish fake 'patina' rust bucket exteriors! Anyway, my compliments on this beautiful refresh of a rare old bird! Oh yeah, just subscribed. Best Regards from Thailand! 😁😁😁

We have had three Packards, one of the best cars ever made. Inline 327 in the last two, hauled ass and drove better than a Caddy or Lincoln. Initially had early post war what had a hood that pivoted from either side, found out by mistake it had a four speed 😊

What's up with showing a completely different Packard for the top chop at the end of the video? A four door was changed to a two door and much more radical chop. That wasn't the car this video was about. I wanted to see before and after overlay of the car featured in this video to appreciate the artistry and extent of the top chop. I'd also like to see a full video on that mystery Packard that became a two door. Thanks for revealing two and a half gallons of Bondo were used to smooth the roof. Probably more than half that Bondo was sanded off in final contouring. Fabulous job. Great color choice.

WILD. This Packard is a 1949 - 1950 Series 23. The 1948 Series 22 sedans and coupes had smaller, more squared-off back windows. Packard also offered a woody station car--Parkard's name for a station wagon. The junior 1948 convertibles went on sale in 1947. The 1948s that were not sold in 1948 were sold in 1949 and are known as the early 23rd series Packards but only their ID tags were updated.
