When Sanford and Son aired in 1972 it brought millions together as they watched antics and schemes of Fred Sanford and his son Lamont. Heralded as a forerunner for African American sitcoms, Sanford and Son, decades later, continues to enthrall audiences with its slap-knee humor and wit.
Go behind the scenes with me as I chat with actor and author, Demond Wilson, known for playing the long-suffering, patient, and loving son Lamont.
Join me for this special edition of Write Stuff as I chat with Demond Wilson on Thursday, August 24th.

Whether you're a reader, writer, or just curious about the creative process, Write Stuff is the podcast for you. So tune in today and discover the stories behind the stories, only on Write Stuff!
Host Parker J. Cole is an USA Today Bestselling author of historical romance, as well as a speaker, podcast host, and CEO of the podcast network PJC Media. As an author, Parker enjoys exploring history through the vehicle of romance. Her speaking topics focus on inspiration for aspiring authors.
For nearly a decade, she has interviewed authors from all over the world via her podcast network. She has an obsession with the Lord Jesus Christ, Star Trek, K-dramas, anime, romance books, old movies, speculative fiction, and knitting. And on and off Mountain Dew and marshmallows addict she writes to fill the void the sugar left behind. ParkerJCole.com

OMG!!! I was able to meet Demond Wilson at my church in the early 90’s in Massillon Ohio. He preached that morning, and was awesome! He spoke under a prophetic anointing!!! He knew my pastor, Bernard Lawson, from being in the entertainment field. I almost got to cut his hair when he asked if anyone in service could cut hair. But I was too afraid to say anything because I was only in the cosmetology field for a little over a year and didn’t want to be known as the girl who jacked up Demond Wilson’s hair! 😂 I would love to see him again and pick his brain since I’m a playwright now. Great interview! And MAN! I wish young men and women would hear this and follow his advice concerning relationships.❤

The greatest Sanford and Son episode in my mind is the episode where Lamont tried to get married. Demond and Red Fox knocked that episode out of the ballpark !!! Their chemistry was so phenomenal in that wedding episode !!! I always wondered if Richard Pryor helped write that episode? I wish Demond would talk about that episode. Thanks for doing this interview with Demond. I could tell you made him feel really comfortable, That's why you opened up and gave us lots of great stories and good wisdom !!! It is really neat to learn about one of my childhood icons.

@LinkRocks Maybe, but he left to be a minister, so I wonder if to him, it's not that important. I do want to see this new show that he is on, on a Christian movie channel. Demand Wilson always seemed to me an honest, straight-talking nice guy and a traditional man, not impressed by the Hollywood of hedonism and vices. And as we ladies know, he has aged very well and is very wise.

I will have to look deeper into to this channel. As a 60 something, I literally grew up watching the new weekly episodes of Sanford and Son. It was THE funniest show on television for more than a minute. Listening to Mr. Wilson speak here was quite interesting. I don’t want to say too much. I just really enjoyed the entire 59 minutes immensely. ❤

GREAT interview. Demond is one solid brother. Forget that, he’s one solid MAN. Talk about wisdom. WOW. Loved what he said about the “African American” thing. We are ALL AMERICANS. I hate the separation of races that existed in the past and is STILL taught, proliferated, and EXPLOITED by the leaders of today. We are all Americans. And just cause you’re “skin folk” don’t mean you’re kinfolk. Sanford and Son like Demond said was real. Especially the relationship of an elderly rambunctious widowed father and his conscientious son. I lived it years later with my own father and his irreverent behavior. Great interview.
