"I'm not doing what I'm told; I'm doing beyond what I'm told because I've caught the vision, I've captured His heart and I'm motivated by love and compassion..." Ugh, this Kris Vallotton guy seems to be onto something here and I can see precisely why others are so smitten by his biblical insight... However, can it not also be said that when Eve was in the Garden of Eden confronted with the temptation to eat from the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, that she too was not acting out of love and compassion??? And seriously, unlike Christians in a fallen creation, Eve and her husband, Adam, were WITHOUT sin at that time. Lest you think I'm a fool though, open your Bibles and read with me Eve's own words: Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’” - Genesis 3:1-3 Here's a prime example of what happens when a person (even in a spirit of supposedly good intention) does not simply what they're told, but goes beyond what they're told and Eve reasons that she is not even supposed to touch the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil when in fact, God did not say that; He only said you must not eat from that particular tree. So, with this mindset, KVMinistries, can it not also be said that if human beings without sin in the beginning were able to be deceived (namely, Eve for Adam was not deceived) than how much more are we who are still sinners this side of eternity (despite our spiritual regeneration) able to do the exact same thing by walking in a spirit of impulsion to do great works to please our Father rather than simply doing as He has commanded, no more and no less??? If you allow Danny Lee Silk to call out and gently rebuke you regarding your supposed "arrogance and pride" in certain church settings, than please allow me to do the same as I am strongly considering you are being deceived by some of your own good intentioned teaching, Kris! Please take into careful consideration the implications of going above and beyond what we've been commanded of God instead of walking in perfect obedience to the Father, nothing more and nothing less.
