Don't change the railgun ammo. You have a chance to have an almost instant ai killer, you just need to get past the shields. That is simple to do; 1: remove the particle cannons 2: add moderate size (250mm ish) advanced cannons with the shell head which kills shield modules and emp. (But still aim for relatively high shell speed due to such high railgun speed so they all hit the same target) 3: make the barrels a little shorter than recommended so they're slightly inaccurate. This means the shells very quickly strip every single shield from the target ship, not just the ones in the small area its aiming at. 4: have fun with your amazing railguns, with nothing hard countering them.

Though of course you do not want to make them too inaccurate. At the 2000 m range the railgun hover fights at, an inaccuracy of 0.057° will mean that the circle over which the shells spread has a diameter of four meters. Assuming enemy ships won't be much wider than 100 m, you'd then want about 1.43 degrees of inaccuracy to fully cover that.

Or EMP missiles, as missiles are not affected by shields and the EMP can destroy them quite easily when the heat seeking camera is targetting shields only

Quite a few SD godly Heavy Onslaught units use CJE for lift. I haven't checked the Event Horizon much, but I'm thinking the lift thrusters might be too vulnerable. I let the video play out more and man, the Event Horizon and Singularity get their chance at redemption. Just so you know, all FP values are being redone on a 5 to 50 scale, which means if you get really "lucky" you could have fought 3 Singularities at once. Also, any campaign started on this version of the game would have updated garrison capacities, going as low as 100 FP for far off tiles, and rising as high as 250 FP for tiles near the HQ. Lathrix's current campaign is of course unaffected, since it was started long before this change was made. One more thing about the Singularity, the main designer added an Easter egg themed around crew entertainment, so if you finish fighting SD without claiming one I suggest spawning it in designer to have a peek.

That is Orbital Bombardment and it is extremely unfair considering that you are also using a rail gun. Heck at Orbital Bombardment you can drop a Rod of Metal and see it literally levels a city. And well you cant level a city in this game it is still extremely unfair to have it there because it just hard Counters anything that cannot easily reach orbit.

What I would recommend for rails is a AP HE weapon. Or a Ap Frg 1: get a ammo customizer 2: get a composite head and some frag bodies and set the frag bodies set to the angle of 360. 3: get a penetration depth fuse and set it to around 10 meters. 4: Destroy

Comp heads have almost no AP, they'll break instead of penetrating ( as they are meant to ). Not sure what AP & kinetic dmg you'll get from a single AP head even at 3km/s, I doubt 10m worth though.

The other reason why the Particle cannon seems to be doing well is now enemy designs are a lot more compact with vital components condensed into small spaces and with a lot more defenses against all other attacks.

It has the best detection system the game allows, it almost always hits something vulnerable, the issue is no craft ever moves in a reliable enough way for that to always happen, along with shields :P

Replace the 2 particle cannons with gatling turrets that have shield busting shells in them. Even the heaviest chaft can't hold long aginst a dedicated shield buster.

Taking out one strong shield in one hit would need an *enormous* DC round - probably too long for autoloaders, so direct load & forever to reload. The saner option is to try and suppress shields with a lot of smaller DC rounds & just live with wasting railgun shots.

panda bear There is a specilized shell, the Distruptor capped one, to destroy shields. A 500×4000 mm with a 1500 mm long shell can destroy most shields in the game. I use them in combo with HESH shells, tearing trought ships like in the old days with Frag.

What has to be added is the way DC damage scales down with shield strength - IIRC rounds do 2% of their EMP damage to str 10 shields or something along those lines - and how top tier stuff layers shields so you have to blow through a couple before getting to the ship, and that needs rounds to hit in the same spot. Buut... easy way round that is several multigun turrets with one gun in each firing dc shells - they should go for the same spot if you set it like that. This does also mean that small ships currently suck for fighting top end shielded stuff - I appreciated that particular pjece of "balancing".

the next challenge that you should do for a series is "the one weapon challenge" where you can only use one weapon for each individual craft. so if you were to put cram cannons on a craft. that would be the only weapon on there. no rockets for defense on the same craft or any cannons for defense either. unless you made individual crafts for each individual task
