If you read the book of Jubilee, which was also written by Moses… all animals at creation used to talk and have voices…. The serpent used to have 4 legs…. After his sin, God told him he had to eat dirt the rest of his life and slither on the ground, God removed his legs… also the animals were no longer allowed to talk anymore

This is my interpretation of receiving fleshly bodies. I have deeper beliefs about what really happened here. You are definitely on the same page.
