I completely agree with what she's saying, and I for one would be willing, not just willing, I would be happy to pay more to the various music streaming services if I knew that they were just playing fair and paying the artists and all person's involved in the creation and production of the music we listen to something fair and equitable. And they monkey around with any copyright legislation that is trying to pass that would change things and tip the scales more towards the artists. I mean how are they supposed to live, let alone live like a rock star? And now that we are living in this locked-down-no fun-pandemic doom, the supplemental income they made pre-pandemic as they were forced to play about a million shows a year is off the table. What are they supposed to do now? They ran themselves ragged having to keep that merciless schedule until they were exhausted and near collapse. I mean I for one would much prefer my rock idols to ravage and ruin themselves by the more traditional (time-proven) methods laid out to us by Ian Dury's (informative) 1977 mega-monster hit "Sex and Drugs and Rock & Roll." That's how I want them to live, like Kings, or Goddesses and Queens. How undignified, a rock star-driven to the edge by an over-abundance of work. Not very rock and roll at all. And it's us who suffers in the end. Before, as I said it was work, work, work and no time for the artists to re-charge their batteries. Now it's nothing but time on their hands but none of the chaotic random inspiration that is caused by just going about your day, unconstrained by anything, free to just move about, in any direction, to go anywhere and do anything. Free. Free to meet a stranger or the strange. To be exposed to something odd, or out of the ordinary and unplanned. Free to be touched and moved by something, anything that sparks. The spark, the spark of the unimaginable, the unknowable, the mystery....... I want my rock-GODS free. FREE to explore and engage. I also want them to be rewarded for their efforts monetarily. Even just some little thing like enough to live on is apparently too much for these companies. I want them free to make a living wage off of their music if not free to be completely (and obscenely) rich! And how are they going to get there if companies like Spotify and Google (who own You-Tube) want all of the profits for themselves and their share-holders? Is Google public? anyway, you know what I mean. Amazon and Google are obviously on a different level than Spotify but they are all making millions (billions) in stone-cold profits (and forget about paying taxes..ha!) and not paying the artists and not passing it along to their employees, such is the case with Amazon. Anyway, back to topic. Yes, I agree 100 percent with what she says but does she have look so uncool while saying it?
