Thanks for this simpler practical application approach to the opsix. Mine is coming back out of it's box this weekend.

I would also recommend the videos by Oscillator Sink, who gets his opsix to do some weird stuff. Karplus-Strong string synthesis, emulating the Roland Juno or Buchla Easel, and more. The extra waveforms also make it powerful in cases where you don’t use FM much or at all.

Yeah - so much more in here than FM

This is easier than IL Sytrus raw no presets and 😆😆😆😆😆 free vst Panzer Tank. I think the setup at Opsix is non scientist user friendly. Thumbs up.

Great presentation. For a nooby the bit of historical context was really helpful. Thank you

I'm assuming that the OPSIX hardware can control the software, right? Thanks for posting.

Your cat is incredible looking. Also OpSix NOICE, mine arrives tomorrow…..synth, not cat. Synths I’m addicted to, cats I’m allergic to. ;)

I'm allergic to cats too!!

Glad to see versatile gear,you can do a bit of 'hacking ' with..reminds me of why i got my Polyend Tracker...Can we use the software version with the hardware OP6 at the same time????????

I'm not sure if you can use it as an editor tbh.

How big is the centre of the Venn diagram between this and a digitone? Mulling over adding an FM synth to the collection.
@hermask8152 жыл бұрын
I guess it comes down to the items you care about. For some guys the simple envelopes of digitone and Opsix are unacceptable, they want those of the dx7. I didn’t buy the digitone because I cared about the additional waveforms of the Opsix. With 4 operators(digitone )vs 6 operators (Opsix) you already have 66% ;-) . Subtractive analog aficionados buy gear for far less differences.

@@hermask815 well that justifies more GAS... the obvious answer is to get both :D

Wait why did you use a different keyboard with the software?

So I didn't have to keep on turning the volume on the OP6 up and down. It just gets far too confusing!!

This one of the most interesting FM sound sculpturing synth ever made and you didn’t even touched 10% of what it can do instead you just complain about the weight it’s look etc… I mean man! Wow. 👎🏻 you pass judgement without knowing whatsoever how you create sonic landscape with it… perhaps if above your head I guess.

I think you can respect a synth’s capabilities (which Mr. Carr definitely seems to do here) while noting its shortcomings or failings. I just ordered one of these (in part inspired by these videos - I have a DX7 and it doesn’t get a ton of use, this would), but I personally think it’s worth noting that these have quite a cheap feel to them (I already have a Wavestate, same build quality). I think he’d have failed as a reviewer if he just continued to gush about what it can do without ever mentioning that it feels like a toy.
