Excellent video. It would be nice to see a comparison with the VST equivalent - The Waldorf Largo.

Great intro to this synth, I'm considering buying one, yes in 2023! A question : the repeating arpeggio you have going, is that from the Blofeld, or the arp in the Keystep?
@phpn99 Жыл бұрын
Blofeld is one of the best synths ever. What it's lacking is a full-panel set of knobs. Other than that it is hard to fault with any sonic shortcomings. Try it with the Analo Voltage soundset.

yeah, I found an editor very useful... once you get used to it though you soon learn how to jump round the interface. I still lose edits though when I forget to save them!

@@StarskyCarrI agree, an editor pretty much necessary unless using just presets or previously programmed sounds. OTOH it takes so little space (desktop version) and usually can be put on top of another keyboard synth. 🙂

Great synth. Such a shame that Waldorf are still asking £89 to unlock the desktop version. I mean it's been out for 16 years.

Personally I don't think its worth it because its so slow and convoluted to get samples on. Blofeld is great though!

I think you can get it unlocked for 10 or 20 usd during the November sales.

Thanks for the video. Would you buy this today, or what modern alternatives would you prefer if any (at similar price point)?

Can I get some "if you could only have on" opinions please ... Deepmind 12 or Waldorf Blofeld? Thanks
@thejollyjoker1876 ай бұрын
Late to answer, I know, but it just so happens that I have both the Blofeld and the DeepMind and I wanted to point out that they are really different.. One is analogue the other is digital and you can realize their differences in sound because of that. The FX on the DeepMind are way better, the multitimbrality on the Blofeld is very flexible and the sound.. The blofeld has this incredible comb filter and all the PPG wavetables, while the DeepMind is like having a Juno on steroids! I love them both, but I bought the DM12 first and then I got the Blofeld.

@@thejollyjoker187 that’s great to know . I picked up the dm12d and it’s been incredibly fun learning how to use it. I’ll have to keep an eye out for the blofeld.. thanks!

quite surprising for a synth that came out in 2007? wth man :) this is Waldorf, not Steve f*n Duda, they make digital synths since the dawn of the human race

I never understood the fuzz about the Blofeld. Compare it to a MW1/2/XT/XTK and no more comment. Which doesn't mean it is not usable. OK for 300$
@fruchticaramelos9013 Жыл бұрын
I just did some meticulous work with the patches from lfostore. OK, the MicroWace1 sounds very warm, but to be honest I have the feeling that the Blofeld can simulate all sorts of things without any problems and perhaps sounds even better because of it. It's a miracle and an accolade from Waldorf that they sell it so cheaply. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3rShnp3rqyXgac kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpKyd6KGi9qAn8k

It might not be as good as synths mentioned, but it saved Waldorf from going bankrupt. Shall be respected just for this, at least. And it is not bad synth, especially for the price.
