You may try to have a packaging for milk that is made purely from paper. Won't last even an hour, milk will just sip right through it. And the food-grade plastic, while being present in food in minuscule amounts, doesn't have any side-effects - that's why this plastic is food-grade. But the complex paper-plastic-metal composite structure of tetrapaks, while making them hygienic and entirely safe to store drinks for very long time, makes them a nightmare to recycle - it requires very specific equipment that is costly, wastes a lot of energy and apparently isn't even available in my country, so we have no choice except from either filling the landfills with countless tetrapaks or limiting their usage. Countless unrecycled tetrapaks and microplastics formed from them may present actual environmental threat
