Tony Ferguson is a hero to my family. My brother was sick and Tony sat on the phone with my brother for HOURS chatting with him! Then he would send food from my brother’s favorite pizzeria for his fights. He’s a true legend and will always be a champion in my eyes and the eyes of those I love.

Didn’t know all of Tony’s back story and knowing it now hurts even more seeing him continue to fight. I know we all wanna see him come back and be El Cucuy again, but honestly after that Gaethje fight, he hasn’t been the same. Having the issues he’s had and not really confronting them head on seriously and continuing to fight will not end well. He entertained us as one of the scariest fighters ever in the UFC, and proved he’s a warrior. Time to hang it up and take care of himself and his family.

It's painful but beautiful at the same time. After the Gaethje fight I've noticed that he is not the same fighter and it breaks my heart, but a core part of what made Tony so special was his inability to give up or break and how he relished in chaos. As much as I loved watching him fight, I hope he can find peace and hang it up. Watching that Bobby Green submission where he refused to tap even when the submission was cinched in tight and he was clearly losing oxygen to the brain. It's easy to judge his flaws, but you can't argue with his toughness. It's sad to watch him break, but it's also inspiring to see the sheer will of this man. His mental strength to keep pushing even after the rest of his nervous system has already given out, I don't think I've ever seen that before. In a twisted way, I think the true beauty behind Tony's character is in him continuing to push on failure after heart wrenching failure. In his prime that was the same thing that made him so exciting to watch. His ability to find a path to victory even in the most insane circumstances that would spell defeat for any other fighter. I want him to hang it up out of concern for him, but I also realize that hanging it up goes against so much of what Tony stands for. In a way the ugly ending is a fitting and beautiful conclusion to the story of a man that has never accepted defeat.

I’m not sure how much you make from these videos but it’s not enough. This is some of the best produced content I’ve seen in a long time. Just the decision to show the Justin fight with very little audio dubbing, just the raw sound of those punches connecting is such a smart decision. That fight with Justin was a physical beatdown. I don't think there is anyone else, in any division who could have endured that at length and not given up. He has the mentality to endure/overcome but does not recognise that his body is no longer in parallel. I really hope someone is paying close attention to his mental health. Once all this fight game is done and dusted there is going to be a lot for Tony to deal with in his head. With all his previous behaviour how can no one be looking into CTE??? He's taken real punishment causing brain damage and his behaviour may be a reflection of that.

Before this new era of fighters and before it had evolved to the level it has today every couple fights you'd see these brutal slug fests where both fighters are just throwing down at 100% bloodied and beaten and taking repeated blows to the head without defending themselves. Before the new era refined their skills and understood the importance mitigating damage has on the longevity of their career. This fight reminded me a lot of those fights except it felt like Justin was the only one slugging, Tony very much has that old generation tough it out and throw down mentality and was still trying to slug it out with Justin who is just a much better and powerful striker which who also happened to have the best performance of his career. With MMAs development and new age refs doing a better job protecting fighters its rare you see fights like this these days which is why this seems so jarring.

Tony's downfall was one of the worst if not the worst in UFC history. What that company did to him and he remained loyal is truly devastating. I remember the most recent cancellations of that fight. As tragic as his story goes, it was Nostalgic watching the rise and fall of one of the greatest LWs to have ever done it. Despite all the UFC's favortism against him and getting screwed by his management team, he climbed the UFC's most talent stacked division and became the World Champion just to have it stripped away because the boss deemed him unpromotable. He took the hard path (no Dana White privilege) and proved to us mortals that even when all the forces are stacked up against you, you can still achieve greatness through sheer will power and determination. He was the David in this Goliath story and we should all be grateful to have witnessed the era of this absolute legend.

A great win? A great win would be his immediate retirement and full attention to his current AND FUTURE medical issues. Getting in the cage again is a lose -lose scenario. One more fight isn't gonna set him up financially. One more win isn't gonna make it all okay. How and why our society does not have a treatment plan when this illness is so common, 1) A person with Bi-polar or Any Mental illness does not understand that they are crazy. Until they are stabilized and rational. They will not acknowledge or often refuse to accept that their brain is not working normally. With EDUCATION-they can understand and accept what they have. Met Tony, at the Bikini Bar i helped run, he and his friend were both chill and gentleman, both wearing 10th planet shirts, i walked up to show them a photo of my then baby nephew, Eating his foot... I said, check it out, Rubber Guard all day!!.. He's only 10 months!! Laughing with each other and sharing stories, totally chill... I love Tony, I been watching UFC heavily since 2018 but I NEVER knew about Tony's issues regarding mental, I was always astonished as to why he blew up on that reporter..Now it makes sense. After his couple months of training at West Coast Jiujitsu. Tony found a home at Hostility MMA I was the Jiujitsu coach. We hit it off being the same size and backgrounds as Defensive backs/safety’s in football,wrestling and music etc. He was the first one at gym and last to leave . Talk about self motivated.. he was always training. And always trying new things on his own. His ability retaining submissions was crazy. His athletic attributes were like no other! We went for a jog .. lol 😂 you know those guys that have that as if in air .. yeah he just about lapped me. I was in awe and knew he was like a 4.2 in the 40 yard dash. Oh and broad jumping tractor tires .. we had two stacked up they were about chest high .. like a tiger.. lands lightly on top .. repeat.. so I gave him a book to read and was like my tenth copy and I highlighted quotes techniques .. thoughts.. that book was Bruce Lees Tao of Jeet Kune Do. It was liberating opening up his mind. I would teach him a arm bar .. he would be jumping flying spinning into the arm bars on the grappling dummy .. I watched he would ask if the moves would work.. couple adjustments .. hell yeah! We cornered each other we sparred we hung out in Ventura. After winning TUF his winnings were spent on his wedding. At one point he told me he was moving to LA or Orange County and had a list of Jiujitsu instructors . They were all good but were mostly GI oriented . I suggested trying Erik Paulsons and Eddie Bravos . While writing this the Gaejhe beating sound is going on. I gotta stop .

As a person who struggled with rapidly induced depression (caused by varying circumstances), seeing Tony going down in a spiral is concerning, sad, and also reflective to how low I have been hitting mentally in my life. Tony is one of the people I used to make fun of, but genuinely concerned of now. He is also a reflection of my own life, and many times I felt like my mind was permanently slipping away. Where I had to cling on to it, and Tony looks like he did let his mind slip. The horror of it, getting your mind back is much more difficult, and healing your mental state back to normal can take decades if you do let it slip. Be that because of alcohol like Tony, or straight up mental stress like me. I wish the dude the best of luck, genuinely and truly. The scary part of hitting rock bottom mentally is that almost no one can pull you out of it, you have to fight for your own sanity, and at the lowest points of your life it is extremely hard to push back against severe depression or brain imbalance. In my case the coffee stopped affecting me. I would drink a cup, and it would not do anything. No happiness, no sorrow, no anger, not energized, not sleepy. Just indifferent and empty. Tony is in the similar spot, and his wife's concerns and psychotic episodes of Tony ripping doors open or smashing mirrors is clear sign that he needs God more than anything now. He truly needs help and mental support. I don't even dare to make fun of him now. I truly feel sad for him.
