Kerr loves small, role player level talent guards. He literally prefers them over tall athletic wings and centers with far more talent and skill. @dmichael100
@dmichael100 Сағат бұрын
I seriously doubt that report. Podz has always stood out to me as an old school- stuck on the floor player. The reason he can't get separation for his shots and he is not finishing at the rim is that he is so unathletic and can't jump over anybody nor does he have the flexibility to finish under/around most defenders. I thought he got too much credit last season. He was able to get off some cute post-up moves with creative footwork (which he HAD to because he can't jump) but the defenders have caught on this year. Kevin McHale could make a career off those great post-up moves with great footwork because he was 6'11 with a 7'4" reach. Podz is just the opposite. The one thing Podz can do really well is rebound for his size and the truth of the modern game is that more and more rebounds are uncontested. In other words, a lot of rebounds that Podz ends up with, 2 or 3 other Warriors could have grabbed because no one on the offensive team hung around to try and get the offensive board. Rebounding used to be a more indicative stat because most rebounds were contested with 2 or 3 big guys on both teams under the basket trying to get possession. Now, those bigs are behind the three-point line, that's why Podz can just sneak and grab the uncontested carrom. If they could get an athletic wing or anyone who could fit in and add to the team, they should trade him.

Giving him more minutes than Moody is such an insult to Moody. I agree with your take. I’ve seen Podz miss a bunch of free throws and critical threes. Let’s not forget Kerr has two things going against him…1. He doesn’t develop players. 2. He has an obsession with guards. I don't care that he's in a slump I care that the team and Kerr in particular are so bereft of shot creation that even his current god awful shooting has to be overlooked by them. Even more frightening for the Warriors though is Steph finally starting to look real old. He's lost a step, doesn't get the same separation and often just looks disengaged. Frankly the team would have been stupid to cash in all their future assets to try and eek another ring out of this core. They are cooked in terms of championship contention. The best they can do at the deadline or before then is trade Melton's corpse for a replacement. They need a playable starting guard at the 2 next to Steph and a healthy Wiggins. Finally they should just bite the bullet and move Donk tot he bench permanently to give JK the runway he needs and then they know if he's worth paying.

Brandin was a decent draft pick at #19. He may still turn it around despite the awful sophomore season because he's a smart player and he hustles, but his ceiling is not all that high. Perhaps an excellent backup or good role player if he starts. All-Star was absurd. Teams and their fans overhype their young players -- and Golden State is one of the worst. I still remember when Patrick Baldwin was the steal of the draft ... and now he plays for the Wizards in the G-League. 😂 Remember when Wiseman was a combination of Bill Russell and Hakeem? Yeah. The Warriors real problem is they have been TERRIBLE at drafting players. Klay and Steph were drafted by a guy named Larry Riley and that happened so long ago that 95% of Warrior's fans don't even know who he is. As I remind Warriors fans they had the chance to draft Sengun with their 14th pick but took another mediocre backup guard, Moses Moody instead. And their problems with undersized, offensively challenged centers continues.

He's the only reason the Lakers have a future currently to begin with. Also, Max McClung is tiny. I’m not mad at podz he’s on a sophomore slump and while I’m not saying he’s a 20 ppg player, I believe he can be a 12-15 ppg guy if his shots are actually falling. The 3pt shot is really hurting him rn. That said I don’t understand how all these casuals blame him for the teams problems. Because believe me, he is NOT the problem. And thinking that the warriors losing is a simple matter of minutes and substitutions just exposes you for how low iq and frankly, stupid you are when it comes to basketball. Rotations and minutes are just one aspect out of many of the warriors problems all of which can be fixed whether he gets minutes in the court or not.

It is hard to say why Podz has digressed. It seems like a lot of rookies that do well in their initial season, only to drop off in their sophomore season. Maybe they got too full of themselves with all the hype, and didn't work much on their game/skills during the off season. That seems to be the problem with a lot of rookies that did well in their rookie seasons, and thus, the reason for their "sophomore slump". I wouldn't give up on him, yet. He may just need this season to get his head on right, and work harder to improve his skills (and stamina). But it looks doubtful if that is going to happen this season. Nobody ever called Podz untouchable. That was a media thing. The only reason he played so much last year is because cp3 got hurt and the dubs don’t have a ball handler. The only reason he is getting so many minutes is because melton got hurt. He’s just in a sophomore slump. Look at every player just around him. Cam Whitmore, Jamie jaquez, and hood shifino. Podz broke his nose early. He’s never gonna be a scorer but he is a winning type player.

lol, all he does is running around, cannot shoot, cannot defend, but he is a winning type player (sure).

That's a good and very reasonable analysis. He was a good pick at #19 and Warriors have been awful at drafting players. He's playing poorly but Warriors don't have good ball handlers outside of Curry. He's never going to be an All-Star but if he improves his shooting he will be a good player. Seems a little overwhelmed this year. Ainge was not going to trade Lauri straight up for Brandin .... that was all nonsense. My problem with Lauri is he's hurt half the time.

If he's a winning type player, the Houston game was close. He should have been able to win that game then.

@@MobPsychoooooo Klay is doing fine at the Mavs. A little underwhelming so far as a shooter of his quality, but he defends well in the Mavs system and is a legit good option to have.

@@pinobluevogel6458 good take. Also, we all gotta consider the money situation. Because Klay was making 40m/year on that last year on the Warriors. He was not willing to play for the warriors for 17m/year. If Klay was taking up 40m of the Mavs cap space this year, you guys probably don't make the marshal deal or the Grimes deal and whatnot. And at that price range, would you have the same feeling of his production?

Honestly don't understand profesional sports business but lot's of times the owners and theire staff want to see gold where there's none,Podz is terrible and so are others but for instance Looney is too small for the centers but than to mark the 1s he's size or smaller he's to slow and clumsy and won't take the shut he's always acting like a chicken with no head and than Kerr playig he's stubborn small & slow pace ball and just don't care about the turnovers in years they have turn the ball 100s of times imagine the points given and games that have cost but the owners love this guy oh well its theire $$%%%$ but for years yes they won a couple of trophies but honestly for the lack of a good big man the team and us the fans suffer way too much.@bigreendot
