Ive been following you for a while, your colourschemes really pop and appeal to me. This breakdown is really great for someone moving away from the typical nuln oil/ edge highlighting. Ive always wanted to give this type of blending a try

Appreciate you Sam! Another great artist to check out for wet blending is Sam Lenz

I might have to repaint my Marines now..... How would you do this on a vehicle? Much larger flat panels etc.

Another thing to mention with wet blending that is definitely more useful for fantasy minis is how amazing it can make fur look. I painted up a 2008 Games Day Wolf Priest and it was my first time wet blending but i managed to make an entire fur cloak look really good. Mixing in washes and drybrushes can help hide mistskes.

@heresyforheretics infinitely jealous, looking forward to seeing it painted up! I can't bring myself to open my dad's old blister packs yet so I'm mostly painting ebay finds when I can 😅

Big Hand Guy says “GOOOOOOOOOOO!!!” 😄😄😄 I love it! I agree wholeheartedly that Space Marines can be lots of fun to paint, even without playing them, and that definitely is quality time and value! (And yeah I know it’s a PowerFist or whatnot, I don’t care ‘cause he’s Big Hand Guy.) 😆

Hmm, have you ever tried tinting the black base layer somewhat to make the transition to your main colours less stark? It's not chromatic blacks, but does a great deal at bridging the gap, imho.
@heresyforhereticsАй бұрын
i do it alot when the black isnt being completely covered. itll actually be making an appearence in the next video

So I got a question... This might sound silly, but how do you manage to wet blend after finishing a color? Do you just add water to your brush and go over the location where the paints meet? I have tried wet blending before, and the paint on my model always seems too dry to actually do the technique
@phrog4699Ай бұрын
That a Gundam Aerial Rebuild in the back?

I wish I could get blending down. I've tried and tried and it just all ends up being one color of the mix of all the colors I tried to use. Honestly, I've moved onto a stippling technique out of frustration. I love the NMM style but I feel like I'm just wasting paint at this point practicing. I love your style and wish I could make it work for myself because it just looks so dang good.
@heresyforhereticsАй бұрын
NMM is all about light and shadow placement(just like everything in mini painting) ill add it to the content list and do a video on NMM stippling if that helps
@abearcalledtankАй бұрын
@@heresyforheretics I appreciate the thought and I would absolutely watch it if you do. I know I just need to practice more. I know my original comment came off as complaining. I just feel like I've been banging my head against a wall lol. I enjoy all your vids man
@abearcalledtankАй бұрын
@@heresyforheretics Im also beginning to think Im not thinning my paints enough haha
@NevereauxАй бұрын
How do you decide where the light and shadow are going to be? Is it just a trial and error or experience thing?
@heresyforhereticsАй бұрын
its a little of both. im more of a "balanace" painter more so than realistic light interactions. Sam Lenz, and Vincent Venturella, are much better at showing and explaining light placement ideas. i just try and put them in interesting areas
