Welcome to my first EVER playthrough of TOMB RAIDER - the originals.
Tomb Raider was one of, if not THE first game that I've ever seen, watching my father play it on PC when I was little, sitting on his lap together with my brother. I was excited to have a good excuse to finally play these games myself with the release of the Remaster!
In 2022 I played the three newest Tomb Raider games, but I always preferred the iconic look of the OGs - the red glasses, two pistols and the long braid.

I meant to say The glasses thing only works with the *TANK controls .. my brain derped! Loading screen with the book, hold R1(RB) and L1(LB) while clicking the save you want to load, hold the buttons until the game is loaded. It's NOT just "look and walk" buttons, it has to be these buttons, and it has to be tank controls.

If you right click on the game and click properties, you can add in launch parameters, one of them is "-dev" (without the quotation marks) which enables a few extra features, one of them is freezing the camera as if it was photo mode but the game keeps running (F8 key), it might be useful for when the camera freaks out and you wanna line up a jump... 😆

I just did it with modern controls, holding down the right stick and X (square on Playstation) and it worked, same goes for keyboard since I changed my key bindings around, were you perhaps holding a different button combination? And for the question above me, it does!

After all the shit with the Maria Doria that (and the fact this and the level after it had no fish in the water lol) made me so happy as a child. :D Especially from a game that came out 1997 and yet had such a banger. Nice! I believe you found a bit of a shortcut at 2:25. Usually, to get to the part where the trap door opens and takes to the place where you use the cabin key, you have to get on top of the rusted hull with the big propeller (the "roof" near the jade statuette where you were using the camera to look around). You dangle off the side, catch the crevice in the metal, and work your way over to the cave in the wall ("Guys, this is the cave!"), uphill to the top, use the cabin key, and find the storage key. Instead, you ended up coming back that way. I think that's why both the hull/rooftop and crevice in the hull seemed to serve no purpose.

If you're still thinking which parts to play after TR3: The direct sequels would be "Last Revelation" (4), "Chronicles" (5) and "Angel of Darkness" (6, this one is very different). Or the following new trilogy, in order of their release: "Legend", "Anniversary", "Underworld" - the three are even connected in the story.

@@LIZZgame I urge you to at some point have a look at Nicobass' modernized TR2 REMAKE, "Dagger of Xian". I think it would be a great playthru for you. It is NOT just a re-do of the original TR2 gameplay and environments, but largely a completely new experience that captures the spirit of the original trilogy and the original Lara, but with state of the art graphics, controls, etc. Yes, it's only a demo so the length is truncated (long enough to be very immersive though) but in every other way the game is complete and highly polished to a professional level. And it's free. Although I love what the Aspire team has done with these remastered games, Nicobass' project is exactly what original fans have been wishing for in all the years since TR4 Revelation. Classic Lara is back, at least for a limited engagement... 🦕I think you'd also have a lot of fun with the ambitious 1998 game "Jurassic Park: Trespasser" 🦖With voice acting by Minnie Driver and Richard Attenborough and involvement by Steven Spielberg, it's still a unique, ahead of its time ride, a mix of exploration, survival horror, puzzles, and some shooting that reminds me of Tomb Raider 1 in a lot of ways. Even the occasional glitches that the fan patches haven't fixed are usually entertaining rather than game wrecking and there is still an active fan community after all these years (trescom.org🦖). That should tell you something.

there is a trophy/achievement to slide between the two ice blocks with the snowmobile, but to get the trophy/achievement you can not move the ice blocks.

Really love your videos. I'm looking forward to the rest of the Tibet levels. One hint: Don't shoot the monks at the monastery. They're helpful or neutral toward Lara unless you accidently shoot one. Then they turn aggressive, and the level becomes much harder. Maybe you prefer it that way, so it's up to you. In any case, have fun and enjoy yourself.

I was just struck by the contrast of you meticulously scouring the previous level for the secrets and then not exploring the starting area much. Note: I haven't watched the next video yet, so I don't know if you ever went back there. I don't even know if it's possible to get all the way back there. I also don't remember exactly what was in that area.

24:59 Chronicles is the fifth one so if anything it should be the last revelation 😆 but there's no remaster for it yet meaning no modern controls among other things. I would say jump into the legend trilogy before you continue with the classics (expansions and potentially other re-releases). Legend was the first one to come out and also the shortest/easiest so I would personally recommend starting there, but anniversary comes first chronologically (it's basically TR1 adapted into the legend timeline, with some changes to the story and levels). That being said, underworld comes last and that's not debatable 😆 If you happen to have an Xbox 360 or newer, you could play underworld there (and maybe the others too) for the Xbox exclusive DLC story expansions (or emulating it on PC if it can handle it)

25:14 - "They don't have numbers, they always just say names." - The Last Revelation is the fourth game, Chronicles is the fifth game, and Angel of Darkness is the sixth game in the classic series. Tom Raider: The Last Revelation - Considered one of the best of the classic series. Some people claim that it has harder puzzles, but I think I had less trouble with them than in some parts of the first game. They changed the menu/inventory system and changed some of the classic elements from the previous games (trying not to give any spoilers). In some areas, they also disable the Look button and force you to play from a fixed camera angle. Tomb Raider: Chronicles - Being the fifth game, this one has a spoiler about the ending of the fourth game. It's not bad, but not as good as the others. I can't really describe why without spoiling part of it. Also has spots with fixed camera angles, including one section that had me raging. Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness - As released, and even with the official patches, this game is a broken mess. The tutorial section was never finished, so they just walled it off, there are a bunch of missing textures (guards with half a face, etc), and things that can crash the game. Oh, there's also a whole puzzle where you're supposed to distract a large enemy, but in addition to half the textures being missing, it also can't hurt you, making the whole puzzle pointless. The enemy just kind of pushes you around a little. They also altered combat in that Lara now turns her body to face the nearest enemy whenever she has guns drawn. This messes with her orientation and makes side flipping dangerous on any elevated surface. There's a project to fix this game, but I haven't tried it myself. Oh yes, it also has whole sections that are played from fixed camera angles. Tomb Raider: Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld (in that order) are a reboot of the franchise by Crystal Dynamics. The classic series ends with the sixth game, Angel of Darkness.

After 3 definitely play 4 (The Last Revelation). It's, in some ways, a return to form of 1. A big departure in other, but I liked it a lot back in the day. Actually more than 2 and 3, but I feel I'm in the minority there. I'd ignore 5 (Chronicles), it was a rushed job that Core had to do under pressure from Eidos, while they actually wanted to take a breather (5 was the 5th Tomb Raider made in 5 years, on the same engine with minor upgrades along the line=. End result, 5 alternates between boring and infuriating. The sad thing is, Tomb Raider 6 Angel of Darness, which was meant to be the big relaunch and reimagining (albeit in full continuity with the originals), came very buggy and unfinished, with poorly implemented mechanics, confusing storyline due to cuts, and overall pretty terrible as well. That was the end of the classic series, then it went to Crystal Dynamics for the Legend trilogy (Legend - Anniversary - Underworld, in this order, which have plot links between each other); it's was a soft reboot in that it restarted and retconned, reimagined and modernized aspects of the classic series, but you can argue we're talking of the same Lara. Anniversary is a remake of the original TR1, inserted in the Legend storyline; still worth playing because while familiar, it's redesigned from the ground up. Then CD rebooted again with modern Lara, this time basically wiping out all the connections with the classics; Lara is a different character, different backstory, different everything.
