@@howtosailoceans1423 Sailing to Brazil is not what we expected, economically independent, growing all their own food, including coffee and cocoa, producing oil, having a self-sufficient mind set. This country has a future. Here is an anchorage (S12.58, W38.30) in Salvador off the Port Captain's Office, adjacent to a small marina by the fort, paying $100 per month, accessing all their facilities like showers and laundry service. Just be careful, respectfully suggesting no night-time excursions away from this anchorage.

Hey Shipmate. Deepest Sadness Indeed. Was Your Dad a Maine "Forever"? How blessed he was to have a son like you. I sense his "Robust" DNA in you. Perhaps a Mug of Rum awaits you to celebrate your Dad's life. For now, I offer a favored sailor's prayer. "When the Last Hand Comes Aboard" ..... No more watch to stand, Old Sailor, for you are drifting on an ebbing tide. Eight Bells has rung. "The last dogwatch done. Now a new berth awaits your Dad on the other side. Your Dad's ship is anchored in God'Harbor. And his shipmates of equal rank shall be mustard on the deck to greet. And Pipe as he ascends the Plank."God Speed Shipmate"

Sorry💜, hold your memories tight and sail on. I left Australia for Mexico to sail back home across the Pacific, my mother was 90yrs when I told her of my plans, she encouraged me to go, and did not want me to come back for her funeral if she passed. I had a strong feeling that I would not see her again. I did not attend her funeral, I sailed on, grieving at times while sailing across oceans and visiting remote islands, I also gently held my memories of her, and reflected on her guidance and the values she instilled in me.

Embrace all the good in TODAY, regret NOTHING of yesterday, and press on into the vast possibilities of tomorrow! You are a good and decent man. Any father would be proud to call you his son. Forget any personal disappointment you surely have related to dear old Dad, as a father of 2 grown boys, I can ASSURE you I let it ALL go many years ago.🙏💪❤️

this video brings me sorrow , but also one of the most cherished memories of my father…I had bought a very neglected vagabond 42 that my aging dad had considered to be one of the worst decisions of my life until he saw the completed refit…he was aboard numerous times with my family for some very nice weekends…one day out of the blue he drove to my house and told me that he had been listening to a voice recorded book in his car. he explained that it was about a highly experienced father who set out to design and build a yacht with his inexperienced son, and sail around the world..they did just that..after returning, during an interview, he was asked of all of the great sailors who have done this, who does he admire the most…the man replied without hesitation, “my son”… i was wondering why he drove to my house to tell me about this story …my dad, although he was a very loving man, was not one to easily hand out praise to me… he said “ this is how i feel about you”…it was very difficult not to choke up, because those words meant so much to me, and still carry great significance in my life… i thought that it would have been so easy to have never heard him say this, even though i knew deep down that he admired things i had accomplished… just in case you had a dad who may not have had the chance to tell you this, i can say with great confidence that I am certain he felt very proud and admired his son.
