wow remembering this with you almost a year ago, I still hear the depth of your heart and think so highly of you. We are in this umm.. building up our experiences and roles (Jordan you have more than one: uncountable) in this world together and on a uniquely given to us path in our lives and LUCKILY for me, you've intersected with my path.

Jordan, what are yours thoughts on a 60 yr old starting BJJ? Also, can I train with back issues? Btw, congrats on your purple belt!

What would be your opinion be on myself starting BJJ age 50 with Ankylosing spondylitis. It does not stop my life but can have periods where my aches make working out hard

Starting Jiujitsu was one of the best things I've ever done. It taught me so much about myself and helped me overcome mental blockers that weren't only stifling on the mats, but off the mats as well. I'm now a new blue belt and it feels like it's always day one. Hope to keep learning and growing in the sport for a long time. Was awesome hearing your story and congrats on the purple belt!

Part of the reason why BJJ belts take longer to reach is because most schools don't have a defined curriculum or standard for belt promotions other than time spent and number of sessions attended. Most other arts have these and therefore expedite the process. BJJ as a ground based art is essentially Judo newaza. Most experienced Judo players will agree that standing Judo is harder to master than newaza. This begs the question why BJJ progress is so slow?

Many BJJ practitioners have a false sense of security. In a real fight they would be helpless because they can't strike and don't have take downs that work on concrete, if at all.

I miss BJJ so much. I injured my knee in May of 2018 and since then I've had 2 surgeries to try and fix it and it's still not right. I'm about to have a 3rd -- have even tried kneesovertoes guy with no avail lol I'm so afraid now that if I DO get it fixed, I'll never return to BJJ out of fear of injuring it again and being in a position where I can't do what I primarily love to do, which is train. I can't squat now and it's my favorite lift 😭😭😭

Good job congratulations. Thought about trying kick boxing or just boxing as it’s more something I am interested in.

Congrats, considering getting our 4yo daughter into bjj classes soon and hoping she will like it so it was good to hear the trials and tribulations of the early days so we can have an idea what she'll be up against.

Can I ask why u haven’t (correct me if I haven’t seen them yet) programmed the front squat in the IC monthly programs and if so is there a tutorial thanks
@jordansyatt Жыл бұрын
There is a tutorial in the database :) I haven't programmed in a while mainly because it can be very uncomfortable for those who aren't used to it, but you're welcome to do that variation instead of back squats if you'd like!
