Love the videos! Thanks for all the sharing. I have a question. Im 50 looking for a change out of my “corporate “ jail. Aka job. I have been looking the past 2 years at expediting in a sprinter van versus getting my CDL driving semi. I might’ve missed it in one of your videos. I was wondering why you chose expediting in a sprinter van possibly versus getting your CDL and driving semi? Was just curious on what your thoughts and/or advice would be having the experience and time in sprinter van expediting that you have now would you advise someone to get involved in this in 2023 or would it be better off going to get your CDL? I have no problem being on the road for a couple weeks at a time. My only hiccup or need would be to make at least what I make now or better which is around 70 K.
@ExpeditingAmerica

It’s a hard call. If you’re retired you don’t need to push yourself too hard. Sprinter expedited drivers get only 3-4 hours of sleep some nights and there are tight deadlines. Demi have rules and regulations that some like and some don’t. Sprinters are nice because I’m not confined to rest areas and truck stops. I can see nature, parks, go to restaurants very easy. Idk I’d say definitely do your research.
@bobbadnoch6965
@bobbadnoch6965 Жыл бұрын
I left trucking after 30 years, took a year off, retired, then "Sprinter Time!" I'll tell you the truth, you aren't going to make $70K per year in either job.
@ExpeditingAmerica
@ExpeditingAmerica Жыл бұрын
@@bobbadnoch6965 lol how u gonna tell me that? I literally did $60k as a driver last year. I did 160k miles yes but I drove for someone. I’m going to do well over that this year as an owner op. Sorry but my outcome won’t be the same as yours…

Sprinter and box are the same. Sure box pays more but it’s also more in gas in expenses. It’s a trade off.

@@phillipgreene6325 All you have to do is subscribe to his channel (if you dont already) and go to his videos and watch videos he posted that covers a week. He gives the "expense and pay" for each load at the end of the videos. It takes a little "research" on your part, but you can get your answer. Its not much effort , If youre considering expediting.

Bro 14 percent is killing your profits you should try self dispatch I was paying a dispatcher10 percent and he was getting loads from dat, nothing special with all the double brokering low rates I think it’s best to cut all unnecessary expenses I even got on dat looked at the same loads my dispatcher was picking and he was barely get me more money like 100 dollars more bro stay up they trying to turn owner operators into company drivers
@ExpeditingAmerica
@ExpeditingAmerica Жыл бұрын
14% is nothing when you add up the time she spends starting at a screen, talking to brokers, and dealing with their check ins every two hours. Plus while I drive she can look for other loads. Time is money so even if I was sitting there booking loads I would still be investing either time or money

Also Dat is horrible and hard to book for vans. Sylectus is more for vans. But even then $600 a month on top of the time I’d spend on there… I’m good id rather sleep when I drop off and let her look for loads

Do you check-in with Dispatch as soon as you get to the drop location ? so they know how long it takes you to do the delivery or change locations because of incorrect address

@@ExpeditingAmerica also another quick question Brandon. I dont think Ive ever seen where you stayed in a Hotel while out on the road. But I saw where another driver said that hotel stays are tax deductible while your out on the road. Do you know if thats true or not ? I know it would cut into your profits at the end of the month. But im just thinking that if your heater quits working while your out and are in the northeast during winter. It would be a long miserable night if you stop to get some sleep without a heater
@ExpeditingAmerica
@ExpeditingAmerica Жыл бұрын
@@randallalderman2260 I’ve gotten a hotel here and there but there is no point when most nights it’s 3-4 hours of sleep. Check in in would take 20-30 minutes alone. Everything is tax deductible out here but you can also deduct a daily stipend or turn in your receipts per item
