Alexandra benedik if you listen to only the instrumental it's not sad. If you listen to only the vocals it's not sad either. But when you combine them they sort of clash but in a good way which creates this sad feeling. I think from what I heard it's because it's a clash of major and minor chords and so it creates this sorrow feeling. ITS SUCH A GOOD SONG ITS A WHOLE BOP
