I'm getting my new 2025 Pleasure-Way van in a few days and one of the major concerns I have is where I'm going to store many of my items. You did a beautiful job explaining how you solved some of the concerns I have. I am also needing to find storage areas on the outside for larger items. Thank you!

You're so welcome. What solved our problem was adding a cab shelf and the "Trasharoo" that hung on the rear spare tire. If you don't carry a spare, you might want to look into adding one. And on each trip, you'll realize that you can jettison stuff you thought you had to have.

Brilliant ideas! I love the reflectix solution. Are you using the hook portion of the Velcro directly on the roof material? I never thought of using the soap/sponge holder for a cell phone. Excellent. You might want to check out “compression stuff sacks” for your bulky items in back. I used them for a chilly fall RV trip to Yellowstone (cold weather clothes). Saved a ton of space.
@FromShetoMe6 жыл бұрын
+Pen Tool Thanks. Yes, the hook side of the Velcro works great on the headliner. I used too much on my first piece so it is too “sticky” so start with a few inches on the smaller pieces. Hi, I like your web site.... lots of good and interesting stuff. Rose and I have a 2016 PW Ascent and really enjoy it. I’ve done a couple of simple mods like magnets for the shades and was wondering in you might be interested. Happy camping, Skip and Rose
@FromShetoMe5 жыл бұрын
Funny you should ask; the dealer has started replacing the velcro on our shades for magnets and I just need to take the rig in for him to finish. But now that I have the black out curtains, we probably won't use the shades much at all. I'm still having issues with the shade on the sliding door. It never works properly and I'm thinking it is defective.
@skipsteller19085 жыл бұрын
Michael Paulo at PW said the 2019s would all have magnets, but he didn't have any photos at the time to show me what they would look like, so I'm still waiting to see them. Meanwhile, I'd be interested to see what version your dealer installs for you.What I used were 6 very small neodymium magnets (25X8X2mm) stuffed into each end of the shade pull right behind the end caps to replace the Velcro on the shade itself. And, to replace the round Velcro tabs on the window trim of the RV, I used 1/2X1-1/2X1/16" metal tabs with 2 counter sunk holes for flush-mount screws the same size as used for the Velcro tabs. I made the metal tabs from bar stock and painted them to match the window trim color. A box of 50 magnets was about $14.00 on ebay. The pull of the magnets is just about perfect; holds well when stuck, and comes loose with a small tug. The shades look exactly like they did before except without the Velcro, and the metal tabs blend in with the window trim. The metal tabs are positioned just inside the shade pull end caps so that the end caps rest against the window trim and the flush-mounted metal tabs don't press into the shade material. Since the sliding door is all metal, I didn't need to install metal tabs on that window. Most of this project was looking for the right size magnets to fit inside the shade pull and making the metal tabs. Actual installation was a snap, maybe two hours or so.I've read the challenges you've had with the sliding door shade and I agree it's probably defective. I'm a die-hard too, but the simplest solution may be an entire new shade system for that window (the working pieces, at least). If I recall correctly, PW already has you working directly with the shade manufactures.I had a similar challenge with one of the crank out windows on the back drivers side. It got hit with a beach ball while open and then it would only crank open about half way. Got a new crank and that didn't fix it. The torque rod that the crank turns didn't look damaged, but I got a new one of those anyway, thinking I would re-slot it if nothing else worked. And wouldn't you know, the new torque rod fixed the problem.... seems that even though I couldn't see it, the original torque rod slot had developed just enough slop to cause the window to open only half way. Wonder upon wonders :)

Hi, we just bought a 20 year old camper van. It's only 19 ft. We will pretty much gut the inside, take up carpet, clean, put down flexible flooring, etc. Any suggestions ? Also, did I miss it, where and how much clothes do you carry? One weeks supply? Where to you store the dirty clothes?
@FromShetoMe6 жыл бұрын
+Diane S. I did do a video on packing our clothes where I talk a little bit about what I take. I’m on the road right now and can’t access my computer but I think I have it in a playlist on my channel. Obviously, with such a small amount of storage we take as little as possible. The bulk of the clothes is very important and so we focus on reducing bulk by choosing fabrics that take up less space. We hang our dirty clothes in a laundry bag in the bathroom. We do laundry about every five days or so so I would say less than a week’s supply. Have fun with your remodel. And just recently we added a 30 inch wide storage box to the hitch. That has helped tremendously for some of those odd items like leveling blocks, tools, chairs, outdoor mat and things like that.

@@FromShetoMe Hi, again. Thanks for your quick reply. I'll look for the video on clothes management. How many pairs of shoes? My hubby says only two, ha, ha. I will take shower shoes, teenies, boots, and sandals. Of course, I will be wearing a pair. I enjoyed your one year video.
@FromShetoMe6 жыл бұрын
I agree with your husband, he should only take 2 pair. But our feet are smaller so we can take more. Actually, it depends on the time of year and where we are going. On our summer trip I took 3 pair...hiking shoes, shower shoes, and a casual pair that were really comfortable. I also pick one basic color, either navy or black, and everything has to go with that color. Also, don't take anything that can't be washed with all colors. And don't forget, if you leave home with less, you can shop on the road because you know you will. The less you start out with the happier you (and hubby) will be.

@@FromShetoMe When my husband and I drive to Florida in the winter from east coast Canada, we take what we need for a month just in the back of our car. A month's supply clothes fit in one carry on size bag each. Meaning, we bring only 1 week supply of clothes that we can wash in laundry. All our clothes are thinner materials and stored in packing cubes. That's the first thing I thought of as a storage solution for your Ascent. Keeps clothes organised and compressed. Each person has their own cubes. For colder weather I think of layers, such as thin microfleece pullovers, and packable/compressible down jackets. I would imagine you could get the same for bed comforters, and they would compress more easily into a tight space. I agree about the microfiber towels which we too use. You can buy them cheaply on Amazon. They take up little space and dry quickly. Question: Where do you hang your jackets when you come in (especially the wet ones)? The Lexor has a small closet for this.

@@CanadaFree.6014 There is a mirror right as you enter our vehicle and I placed a suction mounted hook on it that has held up really well. I think in the past year it has only fallen off once. That is also where we hang our towels to dry. I sewed small loops on each for that purpose. Thanks for sharing your packing solutions.

We are getting a PW Ascent. Do you think the laminate cabinets with the curved doors hold more than the flat cabinet doors?
@FromShetoMe6 жыл бұрын
The geometry tells me yes, although I haven't measured them. I know the curve door on our bathroom gives us a little extra elbow room.

Sorry I realise this is an old video, but is it really a good idea having paper towels above gas flames?!
@FromShetoMe5 жыл бұрын
+Eat Sleep Van No, but I keep them clipped so they can’t unroll, I never leave the flame unattended, there is an extinguisher within an arm’s distance, and there is always a pan sitting on the flame. So it is a risk I am willing to take. But of course you are right to point it out.

i feel that,, if you are planing on buying any R/V, you must do your homework first , and only get what you really want with mucho space in side ,please don't go too chap,, get what you want ,, this is the only way,, you will not find so many problems in your R/V in the future good lucky. peace...

+curtis watson Most people say that your first RV will not be your last. There is nothing currently on the market that hits all the boxes and probably never will be. We are loving the journey and the learning.

I wonder if any of y'all have thought about getting your windows tinted?
@FromShetoMe6 жыл бұрын
+dale kroll we have the front passenger and driver side windows tinted but it is a clear tint that still blocks out 90% of the UV and heat without adding darkness. We have considered doing the same to the front windshield but with polarized sunglasses you can see that it is tinted. And I am told that even though it is clear it is still illegal in California. The back windows come heavily tinted.

The multiplex displays in my 2018 Ascent would come on randomly at night also. Pleasureway put me in touch with Spyder Controls. They sent me replacement displays that contained updated software under warranty. Now the displays never pop on unless they're touched.

I finally found the contact information from Pleasureway: "please contact Spyder Controls at 866-919-9092 and look for Christian or Ted and they will be able to diagnosed this with you.". It was very easy to pop the screens off the wall, there are 2 connectors attached that need to be unplugged once you have the screen off. You'll need to return your current screens to Spyder Controls. I just found your channel yesterday. Lots of good ideas! I'm going to adjust my refrigerator thermistor later today. Thanks.

+dougtuck40 You are awesome. Thanks again for the info. I’ll be contacting them soon. And we have an appointment at a dealer in Colorado Springs in a week to check out why I was smelling propane when the fridge was using it but now it doesn’t work on propane at all. But it is working great on the batteries and only drawing down 10% overnight. And, LOL, one of the blinds fell out last night. Have you experienced that?
@scottsitler30236 жыл бұрын
The propane problem may be the regulator, I know they've had an issue with them.
@dougtuck406 жыл бұрын
From She to Me I haven’t had a blind fall out, I had the opposite problem - trying to get them out :). I’ve had to remove all my blinds and re-tension them. The sliding door blind failed (wouldn’t stay down) and I had it replaced by MCD under warranty.

You may already know this but each light bank can be dimmed by touching the light icon and moving your finger down or up to dim or brighten the lights. Sometimes at night the lights need to be dimmed for your comfort. Good video.

+Gary Wernick Yes and I’m thinking about switching them out for a softer colored bulb. We met someone at Nomadfest who had done that.

We usually have oatmeal. My mom was an original health foodie since the ‘50’s so it’s my form of rebellion.
