It wasn't until only a few years ago that the world started to realize the huge impact this band (along with other contemporary artists in the genre) has had on music in general, and electronic dance music in particular.

Likewise. I didn't realize Front 242 has been around since the early 80s. I thought of them as a 90s/2000s group who was performing similar industrial stuff as their contemporaries without the understanding that Front 242 precedes many of them and paved the way for them.

Together with The Neon Judgement, The Klinik and A Split Second (all Belgian bands from the same period) they formed the base of electronic industrial music. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoLXkoGdntV2idU

"One of???" I would say they are the greatest and "most innovative" band to ever come from Belgium, hands down. 242 is one of the greatest and most innovative bands to come out of Europe, period!

The time has come To stop out old affairs To know our neighbours To try to learn new ways They've gone too far Who do they think they are To treat us like they do We'll change the roles and soon Now war's declared My lord what fools we were To trust our neughbours To let them share our lives They've gone too far Who do they think they are To treat us like they do We'll change the roles and soon Now war's declared My lord what fools we were To trust our neughbours To let them share our lives

One of the unignorable Songs of my electronic "Youth". Startet with Front at 1986. The most influenced Bands ever. Love them until Death. Such a Great Singer. Thank you Jean Luc de Meyer.

Album artwork greatly resembles that of 'Total Recall' by Negative Approach. Or that 'Total Recall' greatly resembles this. Whichever.

I thought it was written about the poverty of the Eastern bloc during the early 1980's. I believe Reagan was in full swing as president of our united states. Gorbachev was really deep in bed with the commies and I was in Russia for political conferences concerning the sanctions that were heavily tacked onto the Russian economy. Look what I'm trying to get at is if you and I can come to some kind of resolution or a conclusion that we both agree is satisfactory in regards to what your core beliefs are and your standards and rules that you abide to as an adult in the current eco-friendly yet not totally free of the current monetary system that we have. If we can make changes to that then we might really have something to call our own again and I think that was what he wrote the song about.

I like them and KMFDM because they scare the hell out of the status qou.....they don't know what to do with the sound and the artwork...this is coming back around when America hits hard times again, and i believe the waste of resources and so many going hungry, the Apocalypse is not going to be a buffet....they are still relevant because it is raw.....and true....
