Front Aluminum Trim, Emblem, & Bumper Rubber Replacement: 1967-68 Cougar

In this video, we show you the proper way to replace the bright mouldings / anodized aluminum trim pieces on the front nose of your 67-68 Mercury Cougar. While we're at it, we show how to replace the rubber corner filler pieces for the front bumper, as well as the Mercury emblem on the left fender extension.
To do this job correctly, we recommend removing the fender extensions, which we show in the video. Be careful not to over-tighten them when you reinstall; the metal is soft and can "pucker" in the mounting stud locations.
Our restored trim is straightened, polished, and re-anodized for a long-lasting shine. Most trim shops out there will only polish the aluminum, which will look great initially, but tarnish and oxidize over time. Check out our 6-piece front trim set here: www2.cougarpartscatalog.com/1...

Very nicely done. By the way, love the Wide Ovals on the Cougar. Have a set on my Galaxie, and they are the very best tires I ever had on her. My newer Galaxie, a '82 Landau has the stock radials, but I really don't like the ride of the radials.

Why is it on some 69 the hood and fender extension do not line up at the front of the hood. Can adding shims help this problem? Thanks

Refer to our bumper alignment video, just grab the edges of the hood and extension and pull real hard up on one and down on the other. It is that simple...

Can I put 69 flip headlights on a 73 mercury cougar?

With enough modifications, it is possible; its been attempted before. But they certainly are not plug and play. That area of the car changed pretty significantly between 69 and 73.

God he got so close to having it finished!!! its kind of scary but I did the mustang version of his car. Im a 16 year old kid who just did a full concorse restoration to my Grandpas 68 mustang. I did everything my self like Andrew except I did my bodywork and paint. I painted it Wimbledon white. His car has a black top where as mine has black stripes. Our engine bays are almost identical as well as out marti reports! I would absolutely love to meet Andrew and the whole crew at WCCC. The only problem is I am on Vancouver island, BC, Canada.
