Analyzes the accidents, explains the causes and preventive measures, and the proper and safe operating procedures for various work assignments are presented.
We digitized and uploaded this film from the A/V Geeks 16mm Archive. Email us at footage@avgeeks.com if you have questions about the footage and are interested in using it in your project.

Maybe i just always had good teachers or just had common sense but i have run a lot of equipment in my life never been threw a training class ever. Many of my teachers simply said here is the start button or key. One simply told me the machine had no brakes smash the gas till you get to the end of the road I was only 8 years old at that time. I didn't smash the gas the hole time tho and learned quickly down shifting and turning slowed the machine. Went 11 miles with it. Maybe common sense is needed. Even old operators wreck or make mistakes. Common sense probably plays in more then anything! Stay safe out there guys! Always check the brakes work or don't work before you get going. Have your backup plan for a failure of the brakes ahead of time to.

No, 1981 was more like 1970s in feel and appearance. I think 1971 would look more like the 1960s. Surely there are some trucks or cars that can date it? Remember, 1981 would be the release date, so it would be filmed in the late 70s, and much of the equipment would be a few years old, especially the stuff they are crashing and wrecking.

0:53 - 1:00 ... that background music wouldn't happen to have been composed by Ib Glindemann would it? That sounds very similar to a bit he did in his tune "Construction Site," which fun fact ended up later on being used -as the top of the hour sounders for 1010 WINS in New York - at least until the 90, when updated sounders still derived from Construction Site were used.

An old timer running the CAT 980K thought it'd be funny to snag the rear of my van as he passed me. I moved over further and further but that machine just kept steering closer (hes headed opposite direction, straight for me). I aint no weenie and if he was gonna hit me, i wanted him to maybe get a jolt from it too (machine tht size... yeah right lol) the bucket snagged my rear wheel and just tore the whole rear end outta my van hahahaha scared me half to death.
