I swapped out my normal halogen bulbs today (Main and dip beams) as they are crap...you get more light from a tea light candle than the "55 watt" halogens, so I decided to do the direction/fog lights as well at the same time, replaced everything with 60 watt LED bulbs (This is the equivalent of each bulb rated at 600 watts of halogen power) and wow what a difference, I can see in the dark now! Thank you Alan for your comprehensive run down on getting the headlights out of this (stupid design) vehicle, it made one hell of a difference, to do both sides was a total of 3 hours, cheers mate! Oh and Monica makes the video's worth watching!

This is an absolutely ridiculous amount of effort to change a headlight bulb. Modern cars are not designed to come apart easily, it's almost like the manufacturer wants to to use their dealer network 🤔

I got an Mk5 2017. Lucky you there is only a bastard internal clip to remove, on my car it's a 10mm bolt, I didn't manage to unscrew it with a key yet

Hi Allan I have noticed that when I switch on my headlights, my right hand fog light comes on. If I turn steering wheel to left it changes to the left hand side. But when driving the right hand side one remains on. But sometimes it will go off. But if I turn lights on and off it comes back on. Any idea what would cause this.

they are called cornering lights to illuminate right or left fog lamp depending whether you are turning left or right, not sure if you can disable them in your settings, they seem a bit pointless to me ..just another function that causes more confusion than any practicable use

"Bulb only fits in one way" - you mean it only fits in Correctly one way, Halfords Store staff seem perfectly capable installing them wrong. What on earth ford thinking making a simple job like a headlight removal so stupid, my old mk2.5 focus was two torx screws, job done.

Alen edit the title to include front bumper removal. As these cars get older people will want to know just how to remove the bumper but that won't come up in a search and you could be missing out on some well earned you tube cash mate

yes thats right, first they had hid conversions as mot failures now they have brought in halogen to led conversions as failure..but i guess if the tester cant see the led bulb if its behind a projector lens then it cant be failed

@@alan4x agreed however I think an average tester can tell the difference when the lights are turned on... Since I got you to reply please.. Can you tell me if you have found a more permanent solution to the oil leak coming from the hp pump? I. E. Apply sealant to the gasket??

@@JP-lz4fp on the oil leak i just fit a new gasket and they are ok..i guess it wouldn't hurt to put gasket sealant on as well but as i haven't i don't know if it would stop the oil leak in the long term

That is some serious underengineering, especially the headlights. When you use stuff like Nightbreakers that have to be changed once a year this a huge failure. My Focus Mk3 has two screws on each headlight and you can easily take them out without dismanteling anything else.

Jesus, even my Lotus isn't this bad. Turn wheel outwards, remove wheel arch liner access panel, 3 easy bolts and the whole light comes out. That car doesn't even have a bonnet and they managed to make it easy!

Modern fog lights are useless, fogs are for use instead of dip beam and with side lights :( Thats what the construction and use regs say ! Old school fogs were fantastic in pea soup, not these new ones :( There are actually 2 different versions of the lamp assembly.

I stopped taking car manufacturers seriously once they made the decision to make it impossible to change bulbs without taking a bumper off. A pox on all of their houses. I think thats just put me off the Mondeo. I seem to remember VW started it.

Good news is that unless you're the kind of gormless, self-abusing prat who drives around with fog-lights on all the time, the few times a year you really need fog-lights in this country mean those bulbs should last 5X the life of the car under normal circumstances.
