This is such an under-glorified milestone that really should get more attention! I mean it's so staggering to know all of the things that could have killed those people at any given point in the flight! Just amazing. To me, this is up there with Hillary on Everest or Shackleton in the Antarctic for staggering tales of human endurance.

I remember this I very emotional when Dick Rutan & Jeana Yeager landed safely back at Edwards Air Force in California the last great aviation record to be broken.
