It's so seductive, all this kit. I lust after a Frost River Isle Royale Jr. backpack, because it's built like a tank and looks just perfect for the bushcraft image. I want one! But, do I need one? No. The best kit you can have is what you've got, coupled with knowledge. The name, the packaging is a, to some, enjoyable distraction. Can you keep warm/cool? Got water? Can you eat? Do you know how to, or do you have the kit to achieve? Not trying to diss what David and you are doing here, but I do wonder if the community as a whole sometimes wander a bit. What do you want from this? Survive? Then you can do that so much cheaper but with a touch of knowledge. Enjoy nature? Again, it's knowing how to use what you've got that counts. Going back to the Frost River backpack I lust after: yes, if I had the money I'd buy one now. Can I do without it? Absolutely.
@Zedoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
I hear your what you've just outlined, often in the 'Bushcraft' community and you are right by stating that one doesn't need 'fancy' kit to enjoy the outdoors. However, no one is telling you that you need to buy said 'fancy' kit, it's all a personal preference and part of enjoying Bushcraft as a passion/hobby/pastime. You don't wanna spend the money, then don't, thats totally fine. But if one dcides to spend the money then who are you or me to pass judgement. Appreciate you watching and sharing your thoughts ~Peace~
