Frosty Sunday Morning at the Cottage

Good morning Collette... the stone circle is looking almost ancient in her appearance, the moss growing over the rock and the light reaching down into the center. Absolutely calming in every way. The birds continually talking back and forth, I can tell how happy they are with their environment. I have a special attachment to the birds and have one special Hawk who always flies over me when I hike. She has brought now two others which watch over me went I am out in the forested areas. The other day beginning a hike in a new area a truly amazing event happened. 100 ft in I came upon a tiny quarter sized baby turtle on its back right on the path. His tiny brilliant orange belly covered in dust. I picked it up and found it to be an endangered species, a painted turtle. I was thinking with no water around a bird must have dropped it there, so knowing of a pond where I used hike I began to take him there. When I stopped in the lane way I was told by someone working in the area that there were two turtle ponds on the other side of the mountain. The little guy already in a wash pan I got back in my truck and drove over to the other side of the mountain and released him into that very pond. At first he was afraid to leave the pan but a few minutes later reaching with his two little feet slightly over the edge, he looked up at me as if to say, "thank you for saving me." It was a touching experience and I feared for the little fella, wondering if I should have raised him up a little first. Knowing he would benefit from being in his environment with his born instincts I watched him start off on his journey alone. I said a little prayer hoping he'd make it and grow to adulthood. Once out he scurried over the flattened dried reeds and into the pond. He knew where to go....God Bless his little 💖heart.

What a beautiful sanctuary! Your videos are life changing. I now see possibilities where I once saw none. Because of you I am trying to propagate maple trees and dogwood trees! I found one of each growing on my property and until last week I never noticed them and I've lived here 14 years! There is so much life out there if we will only look. Love the bench your brother made for you, so lovely, like it very much. Beutiful when trees are blooming. I also have the same Magnolia as you have, the one with those white butterfly-like flowers, love it, but it is not very hardy, but, it have survived this hard winter and are blooming now. I have also covered tires with branches and moss and also plantet things around them plants there have covered them. Lovely in your garden now. :-)

I was just outside with the birds. It seems that the usual flocks of Canada geese are missing this year. Polar bears are supposed to be eating their eggs. I wonder if that's the same in Ireland? I have started a project of planting a horse paddock, half of which has sprouted lush grass and will wait until next year. On the wide railroad right-of-way next to it are berms of wood ash from my parents stove, and assorted trash. I come here for hope and inspiration. There are black walnut trees growing happily in the ash piles.
