@theartsyzoologist2 жыл бұрын
@@OpticalSorcerer Okay as someone of indigenous Māori/Polynesian heritage, I’m forever seeing people claim Moana isn’t a Disney Princess, when actually within our cultural customs and traditions she is. She’s the daughter of a chief. Now in school we were taught a chief, chieftain, chieftess directly correlate to royalty. The reason we voided the title of King and Queen was purely because those titles belonged to the then colonisers and their rulers at the time. It was forbidden for our people to use those titles, just as it was forbidden for our people to speak our language in New Zealand and other Polynesian islands only 45-50 years ago. So whilst some of our Polynesian cultures use the titles of Chief, Chieftess etc a lot of us have also chosen to embrace the titles of King and Queen. During my creative degree we were lucky enough to have a video session with Ron Clements who was had respectfully done his research on this very topic during his travels to French Polynesia. In the Māori re-release of Moana they had wanted to use the term king and princess for her father and herself respectively but Taika Waititi and the production team felt it would likely create too much controversy.

Frozen is based on a Danish fairytale that takes place in NORWAY. You can see many referances to Norway in the movie, such as snow, vikingships, malestrom, trolls, stavechurches, traditional dress, reindeer, the name Olav, the town of Arendelle ( named after a town called Arendal in Norway) etc The setting is the fictional kingdom of Arendelle which was principally based on Norway, and the cultural influences in the film come from Scandinavian culture.[ Several locations in Arendelle are inspired by real-life landmarks in Norway, including the Akershus Fortress in Oslo, the Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim, and Bryggen in Bergen. Numerous other typical cultural Scandinavian elements are also included in the film, such as stave churches, trolls, Viking ships, a hot spring, Fjord horses,clothes,] and food such as lutefisk. A maypole is also present in the film, as well as the brief appearance of runes in a book that Anna and Elsa's father opens to figure out where the trolls live. A scene where two men argue over whether to stack firewood bark up or bark down is a reference to the perennial Norwegian debate over how to stack firewood properly. The film also contains several elements specifically drawn from Sámi culture, such as the usage of reindeer for transportation and the equipment used to control these, clothing styles (the outfits of the ice cutters), and parts of the musical score. Decorations, such as those on the castle pillars and Kristoff's sled, are also in styles inspired by Sámi duodji decorations. During their field work in Norway, Disney's team, for inspiration, visited Rørosrein, a Sámi family-owned company in the village Plassje that produces reindeer meat and arranges tourist events. Arendelle was inspired by Nærøyfjord, a branch of Norway's longest fjord Sognefjorden, which has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site; while a castle in Oslo with beautiful hand-painted patterns on all four walls served as the inspiration for the kingdom's royal castle interior.

Great reactions! The best lesson Frozen teaches that true love can be found in anyone, and not just in a romantic partner. Idina Menzel who voices Elsa starred in a Broadway musical Wicked, which tells the origin of the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch before Dorothy dropped in. Both characters are very similar in their story arc as well as their magic abilities they learn to harness while dealing with their own personal insecurities. 🤍💙❄️☃️

Idk. You ever see Ellie cry the whole time throughout Schindler’s List and the Green Mile. Imagine how much she’s gonna cry the whole time throughout that movie. I, myself, don’t mind if any of the Homies see Les Miserables but seeing as how dark Les Mis can be, it’s gonna be at least like the Green Mile to her all over again and when she was crying to that, she looked like she was about to die. Now, Idk if any of the Homies are ever gonna react to Les Mis but soft and easily affected by shit as they are, I wouldn’t take the chance of requesting something like that. And, if they DO see it, let’s hope they survive that. 💯
