Frozen cast sings live - Let It Go, Summer, Love is an Open Door - Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell

The music of "Frozen" was celebrated with live performances at Los Angeles' Vibrato Grill Jazz club Feb. 9 2014. Kristen Bell (voice of Anna), Idina Menzel (voice of Elsa), Josh Gad (voice of Olaf) and Santino Fontana (voice of Hans) took the stage, accompanied by a live orchestra conducted by David Metzger, to perform songs from film, including the Oscar-nominated "Let It Go." The packed house included songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, producer Peter Del Vecho and executive producer John Lasseter, in addition to a host of celebrity guests.
The "Frozen" soundtrack has held the No. 1 position on the Billboard 200 chart for four non-consecutive weeks, and is the longest-running No. 1 film soundtrack since 2003. Worldwide, the album has sold more than 1 million units and 3.4 million tracks. At iTunes, the album has peaked at No. 1 in more than 30 countries.

When idina is talking about acceptance and showing that you shouldn't be afraid of who you are, it makes me immediately think back to the days when she played elephaba..she just shines in everything she does..

Clearly there are parallels between Defying Gravity and Let It Go, although I think Let It Go is a resolution, whereas Defying Gravity is mid-show, and starts Elphaba on a course of action that doesn't turn out great for her.

From what I think about Idina's so-called "lackluster" and "rushed" performance of 'Let It Go' at this event. I'm getting the feeling she's actually 'conserving' her voice for the live Oscars performance in less than 2 weeks. Can't blame her. She still sounded wonderful.

Idina Menzel always sings her very best. This song is extremely challenging for any singer. It is sooooo high! And Idina sings it in Ab while Demi Lovato sings it in G. That's a big difference. To know that she also has asthma and a four year old child that she is raising, it's amazing that she can sing this high because it takes a lot of energy to sing in this upper range. Idina is a very strong person to be able to sing the way she does. I give her a lot of credit for being able to show up and sing in so many live appearances including this one. Good luck in everything Idina!

Well, not knowing the circumstances (i.e if she was sick or had a sore throat) constantly practicing/singing for a movie, Broadway etc. and then stopping for a while can definitely alter your voice. Just like Kristen Bell had to have years of vocal lessons for this movie, I don't doubt Idina had some of her own, just to re-'develop' her incredible singing voice, because lets face it, "Let it Go" is not a very easy song to just get up and sing to. Also, like it was said before me, she most probably IS conserving her voice for the Oscars. For anyone to make it seem like Idina's voice was heavily altered in the studio is just asinine, she was in Wicked and Rent for god's sake lol

Listening to this performance, and the performance at the Oscars, I feel as though the orchestra are not delivering as much power to the song as the orchestra did in the film. I think if they had more energy then I feel like Idina would too but they just seem too laid back. Also, she is doing If/Then on broadway and the Oscars was on March 2nd so Idina really just needed to rest her voice as much as possible.

The orchestra are way too fast and weak on let it go. :I It's annoying because I can hear it. I could see Idina wanted to blast it but she didn't want to sound back but the fact that she had to try and sound good with a shitty orchestra made her sound bad and you could see she was peeved too.

She had lots of more practice with 'Defying Gravity' and stuff like that. She has sang plenty of songs on broadway. 'Let it Go' was kinda forced on her. she sang it fine, and then people had to love it so much that they made her do more stuff, she was recovering from asthma attacks and colds all the time and they still made her go up there. I feel sorry for her.
