"Was driving down a busy road and a fawn stopped in front of my car and laid down and just froze. I couldn’t get it to move so I stopped traffic in fear that someone would hit it. Another guy stopped and tried to help move it and I videoed his attempt."

For those who don't know this is actually what fawns do when frightened, although usually done in tall grass it is done in an attempt to hide they lie down in the grass and are relying on there camouflage to hid them.

A mother deer tried to lead me away from her fawn. She ran parallel to my path, stopped and snorted at me before running a little further and doing it again. Sure enough, I found the baby curled up in the tall grass about one hundred feet ahead.

It's so awesome to see that little fawn "jump up & run away after he/she feels the ground after the man with the box pushes him/her off the road." I know young fawns "play dead" when in dangerous places. Mama trains them well.

A fawn without its mother is pretty much an easy lunch for any predators. But hey good on him for helping it get off of the road!

their mamas place them in high grass usually and tell them to stay there. The little Bambi is exactly in that "frozen" state. Youre right they could be an easy lunch for predators but they usually hide pretty well

Fawns are left alone by their mothers all the time as she forages…they lay very still to evade being found. It’s what they do…only this little one was on the road!

@@FishiestFishy living in Minnesota, every time ive came across a fawn by the road, usually the mom got hit nearby and it just stays there. Rarely would a momma deer let its baby lay by the busy road. It seems like this one is on its own. But who knows

@@dodgedabullet670 Yep but this one seems to be motherless. If it’s laying by the road Id bet momma got hit or isn’t nearby. Some deer are scared to cross the road if cars are nearby. Momma could have left the fawn or died. This behavior is telling me that its scared and alone. But if its mother isn’t around odds are this little one became somebody’s dinner if it’s letting humans pick it up
