2015 535 xdrive with N55. All stock. I bought this car 6yrs ago in 2018 coming off lease with 32k miles on it and still under warranty. Dealer changed out valve cover gasket as part of sales prep. I promptly broke transfer box zooming up hills in Sport mode 😂, replaced with new under warranty. I have tracked it only once. Now 6yrs later and at 78k miles. No issues. Have only done routine maintenance such as oil every 6 months, air filter every year, pads and rotors, tires and recently transmission pan and fluid change using ZF fluid and pan. I DIY so costs have been minimal to date. Plugs, coils, belt and belt tensioner will be upcoming items for routine maintenance. So far this car has been bullet proof.

Thanks Fritz! Previous N55s have had electric water pump and thermostat issues, but possibly fixed now considering the lack of comments on the 2addicts forums. No issues with the boost pipe or intercooler. Very reliable car, especially after all known issues are addressed and even more so if the car is kept stock. My 2014 m235i F22 just went into limp mode / Drivetrain malfunction on the highway. Based on Bimmerlink I’m assuming it’s a charge pipe or vacuum hose… I haven’t found it yet 😔. I’m at 80k miles. Last year I had the valve cover gasket replaced and front struts replaced (both failed around 75k). The oil filter gasket is looking like it’ll need a change some day soon, too. I also had a radiator coolant hose fail at 65k (replaced that myself). The use of cheap plastic hoses, parts and inferior gaskets is extremely irritating and pretty unforgivable.

As well as a new radiator and upper radiator hose. Other than those issues (most of which happened almost all at once at 100k miles)… This engine has been shockingly reliable considering it’s a BMW.

for future and current n55 owners, my Chargepipe went out at 74, but you you want it replaced by the time you hit 70k, another common issue/failure that wasn't addressed in this video is the water pump that goes out at 80k yet again thats not exactly something that is easily done in the garage. im at 75k right now with a 435xi and the turbo inlet and outlet pipes haven't gone out. imo you should do the charge pipe > waterpump> turbo pipes > intercooler and like the video said the gaskets isn't something you need to do ahead of time, turbo pipes probably won't be that major of an issue if you've already got the aluminum CP. the intercooler isn't that big of a priority if you aren't tuned or catless since its not really prone to break hope this helps and dont let this comment deter you or scare you it sounds like a lot but every car that isn't a Toyota/ Honda will have its issues...
