One thing to remember Fritz! The 340i does not need any of the extra duct components that the 328i needs. We used a 340i chassis for this design and it already came with all the downstream ducting, for that model it is a drop in mod! Thank you for figuring out the 328i, we hadn't known about that until you pointed it out, much appreciated. :) Keep up the awesome work.

I did a little experimenting with my M240i, and came to a few conclusions. Firstly, you're completely right about a sealed system. The filter must be sealed off from the engine bay to prevent hot air from entering, meaning those "hot air shields" that come with many intakes are almost useless. However, the induction/turbo noise a non-enclosed system offers is to die for. Since fun trumps drag times in my book, I chose to get rid of the airbox after a few months and reinstall my cone filter. I tried the drop-in filter with an aftermarket turbo inlet as a compromise, but I still found myself missing the outrageous turbo noise too much to settle for the subtle improvement offered by the aftermarket inlet. I also had a silicon silencer delete attached to the airbox to improve things as much as possible, but the airbox alone is a more effective muffler than the rest of the intake plumbing.

There are some mechanics claiming that you should only use high flow air filters if you rebuild your engine (like a track car) every year due to the excessive particles that pass through the larger holes. Higher flow = less filtration. Some claim that those dust particles will scratch up the internals of the engine permanently, commonly seen on the cylinder heads. Fritz, what is your take on how damaging these filters are to an engines health based on your research? There are studies (oil analysis tests) supporting both sides, and I found it difficult to come to a conclusion. I would be really hesitant to run a high flow filter on a daily for years on end, until I come across more convincing evidence that it's safe to do so. Thanks for the video, I will definitely be getting an air scoop.

I would think that most of the particles get trapped in the intercooler. It would be challenging for those particles to make it across then back up the charge pipe. Hope that helps

Works with any engine configuration as these intakes are chassis specific, they are offered for F22/30/31/34 (235/m240/328/340).

According to their website, this works on f30s 2016 and above. Do you know if that is true? I have a 2014.

As long as you don't have the automatic transmission cooler and aftermarket heat exchanger it should. But Double check with Velossa Tech 5:20

These things are mostly worthless unless you're doing huge upgrades. I put a BMS intake on my F30 N55 and all it did was piss me off with a lot of extra turbo whining and no perceptible improvement in power. Sold it after a few months. The intake box with the BMW N55 MPPK upgrade (which I have) is about as good as it gets for that engine.

@cynic-kun I ordered this exact one to include the passenger and driver side. I also emailed Velossa Tech about my make and model which is the 2014 BMW 428i (F32/N26) and they cancelled my ordered without consulting me.. so I called their company this morning and talked to a different representative. The person who emailed me said it would not fit my “2014” model and didn’t specify anything else.. this doesn’t make sense bc the 328i’s also share a similar chassis and this dynamic air scoop is only mounted on the V-Brace.. I don’t think or know if the brace is larger on the 4 series.. and it doesn’t exactly mount directly into the air vent but is only pointed and directed at the air vent to the intake.. Can anyone else verify this? I honestly got mad at Velossa tech for just cancelling my order without my confirmation and ordered one from eBay which is similar to the FTP dynamic air scoops. I’ll lyk how those fit.

It’s a turbo car 🤦‍♂️ it goes through the intercooler it really doesn’t matter that much
