FRS/BRZ How to: Rain guards/Door Visors Install

!!PLEASE READ THIS!! Before begin installing your Visors. I came across couple mishaps during this install while recording.

You can follow my instructions on the video once you start your instal process. However if you bought the ones that I ordered, you'll come to notice that in the "Japanese manuel" it comes with the direction showing that, putting on the clips is a last step. But this is ALL WRONG. My guess is that the actual Japanese visors come with a different clips but the ones that I have are totally different and need to be installed before even attempting to align the visors to the CUTOUT MARKERS. My recommendation is that you insert the clips to the door rubber seal and mount the visors according to its aligned hole and then start the alignment process. If all this too much, then you can always just do as I do and put the clips on last xP

Thanks for the feedback bud, unfortunately there's nothing I can do about the lip smacking at this point xD I'll try to remember not to do that next time. Good I decision, you won't regret it! You don't know how many times a day I have to make cringing faces cuz I'm scrapping everywhere I go😅 Good to know there's people out there that take me serious haha

I would advise against using a quick detailer to clean prior to install. Most quick detailers have a hydrophobic additive, such as wax that will actually make it harder for the 3M to adhere. If you do decide to use a quick detailer always run through the area with isopropyl alcohol to remove the hydrophobic additive for maximum adhesion.

Hey! not sure if you'll even see this or if you even still have your FRS, but I was wondering if you think these will stay on without the clips? A lot of the aftermarket rain guards stay with just 3M tape and I know 3M is pretty strong but I'm always hesitant. Wondering what your opinion is (will probably purchase these exact ones using your link!)

So sorry for this late response, but yes you can just use 3M double sided tape to get the job done. I did see that the metal retainers had cut my rubber seals a bit after some time

Venom Yea go for em bro, mine's been holding up now for two years now! Only thing I did was to change the adhesive when the old ones it came w/ started to peel off. Other than its been a worth while buy for me :)

so my subaru doesn't have those door frames around the window and people say a rain guard will just get hit by the glass if i open the door... im trying to find a way to get rain guards like this so i can put them on

I'd say test fit first to make sure. The frs, brz, 86 are all frame-less but the window drops a bit. Just use some masking tape and test fit to see how low they can go and still clear them.

KrazyRaz Not sure bro sorry. Try sticking the entire visor w/ double sided 3M slim tape. It will hold up really well, i had to re-apply some tape myself.

mine looked fairly flimsy, so I ended up using super adhesive caulking from front to back, it's insanely stronger than the clips

Bro, they designed these visors in assumption that the windows roll down each time you open the doors right? Anyway, aren't they installed a lil too high; you won't be able to lower your windows too much?

Yes your assumption is correct, however I'd say these visors are for aesthetics only because it's a very thin design to begin with. I usually don't lower my window when it rains. Lol

For sure man! I'll make sure we come up with some easy to work on projects for the genesis :D The only reason why I wouldnt go for the rain guard is because its shaped with the FRS body line so it just wouldnt be a snug fit.

@@supafance92 During winter, these prevent the windows from being inoperable by keeping the rain from freezing on top of them. Also, they prevent the snow from falling on you and inside the cabin when you enter and exit the car after snowfall. Seems a lot more functional than a fake vent to me 🤷
