I used to make almond milk. It was 1C raw almonds, soaked overnight, drained and rinsed 4 cups water 1 medjool date 1/4-1/2 tsp. vanilla Blend and strain, just like in your video. I worked in coffee, and was trying to find an alternative that steamed well and created a nice microfoam. The protein to fat ratio of almonds was just about perfect, and the flavor was incredible. I’ve never worked with fresh oat milk, I’ll have to try it.

Thank you so much for this! My son was being checked by specialists for an abdominal mass, and they said no dairy at all to help with inflammation. First thing was a relatively simple fix, but he is hating no dairy. We're already gluten-free, so anywhere else we can save money definitely helps!

Thank you for this video! I have considered trying oat milk, but people seem to be very picky about which brand they think is best (and they don't seem to be in agreement as to which brand). The cost has kept me from trying it (I drink plain almond milk). I will definitely try this! Again, thank you to you and your handsome young assistant! ❤️🌻😊

Great recipe! Thanks so much. I live in a remote location where our little store runs out of basic foods because things have to be shipped in from far away and deliveries depend on having good weather. Unfortunately, there are a lot of processed and canned foods, but they will often run out of fruit, vegetables, eggs, and dairy. By the time the supplies get here, the best before date has really shortened. Milk is $11.45 of 2% for a gallon here and sometimes I have to buy the larger jug and freeze smaller portions so I have some for baking, etc. Have also started using dry powdered milk in an emergency too.

QOTD my favorite milk alternative is actually oatmilk. And I did not have a recipe for it until today! This is definitely going on the top of my to use list. Ive made almond milk before, but it was a lot more of a process than this. Had to soak the almonds overnight, etc. Plus raw almonds don't exactly have the longest shelf life. TYSM for this!
@OhavYisrail Жыл бұрын
now for my QOTD. How does the cost of the bulk bags from winco on the oats compare to the cans from the Home Storage Center? I don't have a winco by me but am considering taking a vacation to Utah this summer (It's one of two states I haven't visited). If I do I'm definitely going to hit up a winco. Are there any other must sees while I'm there? I'm generally more interested in off the beaten path type sites. And does honeyville have a storefront? or other preparedness stores I should visit there?

im going to try this. I wonder if i can make oatmilk creamer and if it will froth in the frother? We shall see! Ill probably add a bit more maple syrup to it. UPDATE- it does not froth lol Ill have to tweak it. Oatmilk is frothable. I think the problem is that I used quick oats. I chose them because it was gluten free brand. A little secret I discovered is to strain it through my French press which is much easier to clean because it csn be disassembled and reassembled easily. It work really well.

I put 1 tablespoon of heavy cream in my coffee because it doesn’t have lactose (sugar) & is on my list of “healthy fats”. Your standard 1 cup of oat milk has 16g of carbs, including 7g of sugar. Yup, I know heavy cream is dairy… but it works for me in limited amounts. Many non-dairy alternatives don’t work for me.

Hi Kylene, I’m trying to figure out how to be able to make yogurt if we couldn’t get starter anymore. And from what I’ve read it doesn’t have a long shelf life like powdered milk does? Can we reconstitute freeze dried Greek yogurt and use it as the starter? Wondering if the cultures die getting that cold? Or do you know what we should store so we could make yogurt if we didn’t have stores. Thanks

Thank you for your video. I'm not big on milk but it has its uses in cooking and baking not to forget cereal. But I'll make this "Oat Milk" the next time I make bread and throw the pulp in the dough for something different. I could use some of the Oat milk for my liquid as well. The worst that can happen is I don't like the product, ... and I can't see that happening. Have a great one.

Almond milk is also easy, but almonds don't store well, sadly (not like oats anyway) While I have luckily found the lds home storage center's dry milk to be delicious (and I don't usually like dry milk) for so many people who can't tolerate dairy this is a blessing.
