What a bummer you had to throw out a few things because they were bad. I went to the food bank today and had a small bag of corn meal in my box with an expiration date of 2022! It happens I guess. Good question! I am not and hope to correct my diet to the point where I can meet some health goals. Salads really help me. I have a sweet tooth, which can be quite the difficulty! Thank you, I am making a lot of progress sorting through my belongings. I'm already experiencing the benefits of thinking in categories like keep, donate or discard. Having moved so many times, I want to make my place the best home I can. I'm getting there! Little by little!

Sour milk can be used in baking. It's buttermilk. Furher fermented, can be turned into cheese.

I would like to get back into baking. When I had a gas stove years ago, I loved to bake! I'll keep that in mind when I upgrade my fridge and stove situation in the future. I would like to experiment with fermenting foods!

@@CareFreeLivingChannel it's not really fermenting. It's how sour milk has been used in general. Pancakes were food for the poor. If milk was going bad, it was used in baking. Meaning it was not thrown away. Cheese is also spoiled milk for the most part.

I think my generation in general has lost the traditional ways around the kitchen. I observed my Grandmother managing her kitchen like a restaurant. Not allowed in there unless my long hair was tied back! I wish I had learned more about food and how to salvage different items. It's never too late for me to acquire new-to-me knowledge. And when u wore it for this vid it looked comfy and lovely! Yes, the 2.00 Sur La Tab table cloth was another excellent deal. They r a very pricey brand ! Good job ! Great eye ! Oh, Sarah! I love lamb! Growing up, we had roasted leg of lamb, especially for Easter! It's so very expensive now. I used to be able to find leg of lamb steaks at a reasonable price that were perfect for a family of one! Can't find them anymore... 😢 I'll keep looking! All your meals look wonderful. Too bad about the sour milk! When I was pregnant with my oldest,I craved milk. I don’t normally like it. I opened a carton of milk took a big drink,it was soured really badly. I never drank milk again. That was 34 years ago.

If you ever come across milk that’s about to sour or past its exp you can very easily make ricotta. Put it in a pan and bring it to heat slowly, when you see little bubbles forming add in lemon juice and stir then separate with a cheese cloth or fine strainer.

We just had our septic tank pumped out. The guy said ifu have a septic system I stead of flushing ridex, flush sourmilk. Does the same and it's cheaper. Just in case you have a septic tank.

The tablecloth was a really good buy. It would be so festive wrapped on your sofa the way you do it. Evaluating and purging is constant in a smaller home. Sarah, you should get some chickens Just 2-3 if your allowed (no roosters) just about 2 hens and all that food you are throwing away can be fed to your 2hens. No need to buy feed they can live off table scrapes and weeds and they will give you eggs. And you can then wash the eggshells and crush to feed back to the hens. Any extra furniture you don’t need you can turn it into a small coop! Just an idea. That food can be useful not wasted

Here in Pennsylvania, we don't get all that kind of foods. Most always the potatoes are rotten, and the fruits and veggies mold and spoil fast. We go to a church for our food pantry and the church members are behind the tables giving us the foods. I like the way your food pantry is, that you can push your own cart and shop that way. I don't like how it's done here in Pennsylvania and we don't even get sweets like pies and cakes, nor do we get paper goods.

Thank you for watching! I may share the details more thoroughly in a future video. In a nutshell, back in 2020 the place I rented was going to market. I had less than 1 month's notice to leave. I had never lived in a trailer before, so I had zero knowledge on how to fix it up. My renovation budget was very small. After the "basic reno", over time I was able to buy things I wanted or needed from the thrift store, Amazon or even free at the dump. Thank you so much for watching my channel!

I know you have limited space in your fridge. If possible never store milk in a fridge door as that is the warmest place in the fridge.

Take out the amount of pumpkin seeds you want to use and wash the salt off them before eating them or adding them to your salad. If they are still too salty, soak them first.

Hi Karen! I hope you are staying cool, this weather is so hot recently. Sometimes the prepared food items have turned, but that's just part of shopping at the food pantry. I'm happy to get all that I got! Good for you going through your belongings, I'm doing the same.
