46 years ago I married into an Italian family. I knew very little about cooking but thanks to my mother in law, I learned how to make the best Italian food ever. So, we can’t go to Italian restaurants or get Italian takeout because I make the best ………thanks to my mother in law❤️❤️❤️

Fried chicken with mashed potatoes, biscuits, gravy and I substitute green beans for the usual Cole slaw. Trust me, my chicken is w-a-a-y better than the Colonel's. I flash fry it to crisp everything up, then cook it low and slow in the oven while I finish all the sides. Nobody complains about home-fried chicken!

Great bag. I love lots of pockets in a purse or handbag. In Scotland we always put a coin in a purse we are giving as a present. Its a wish / talisman that your purse will never be empty. Beautiful sunrise.

Paul did well! My family has the tradition that you never give a wallet or purse without a coin in it! I have no idea if it is a family tradition or a tradition based on heritage. My carrots were recalled so I will have to go back to the store and I try to avoid the week before thanksgiving. I am feeling very much like I want a quiet, no frills Christmas. I don’t think I’m going to put out most of my decor, my tree is already up. Thank you for the wonderful video! ❤

A “take out” meal that I like to make is fried rice. Whenever I have cooked rice for another meal, I will use the leftover rice in the next day or so to make fried rice. I use whatever veggies are on hand at the time, as well as protein, so this meal is never the same thing twice. Thanks for your encouragement and all you do.😊

We make our own sweet rolls, muffins, sourdough bagels. Simple little seasoned croutons; always bought bagged croutons but never again. Had a meal with friends and made baked French onion soup; they said it was better than any they had at a restaurant. That warms your heart when there is joy in a meal or things you have baked. Thanks for all the joy that you bring us with your channel. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Another great episode. Paul did an awesome job shopping for you. I think my pizza is better than most purchased pizzas except Casey’s breakfast pizza. Poor crop seasons in West Africa caused by weather changes caused the price increase in chocolate. I stocked up on baking cocoa and some chocolate chips prior to the increase in price. Hurricane Irene wiped out a lot of the pecan trees in North Carolina. It also did a lot of damage to the peanut farms.

Olive Garden chicken gnocchi soup is our favorite restaurant dish made at home. It is even better at home....I think sometimes the restaurant waters it down and/or skimpy on the chicken and gnocchi. Always filling at home. We use it as the main dish.

Wow you guys are amazing. The 2 hauls are both amazing! Those carrots are from here Quebec where I live! for once we are eating the same produce😊 Our carrots are safe right now. The only recalls come from imported produce usually. I cannot believe your Mutti prices!! they are $7 a can here. All I get is the Passata from Mutti at $4 on sale! I would have stocked up too! WOW. Nuts are way too expensive here. The days you bring nuts to your relatives for the holidays are long gone. That recipe rocks! I usually make it all separately never put the sausage into the buns like that. But I will do this next time oh yess! I tend to make the sauce with sausages, with pasta, and garlic bread on the side. Very clever yummmm!! I know I make better hamburgers with buns, pizza, or pulled pork with scratch buns than a restaurant. I also make a better pad thai. Any pasta dish, any grilled cheese with tomato soup, any stuffed roulade type meat. And beef stroganoff. And complete breakfast. I also do coquille st Jacques and vol au vents better. These save me a lot of money at home. Especially when it comes to baking. My pumpkin pie or apple pie is always better than store bought. For the burgers, whether I make them with a red meat, tuna or vegetarian like zucchini burgers, they are way better than any fast food. I use no sodium so I will use any other flavouring I can like caramelized onions and garlic to substitute for salt. A touch of bree or a special sauce you make for your burger makes them also superior. Especially if I make the buns from scratch ( any bread I do add salt though and butter), you can’t beat or compare a restaurant burger to a homemade grilled or broiled burger. It just takes planning ahead and starting the buns early in the am so they rise twice, in time. Pulled pork is low and slow. As is the Beef Stroganoff. All things that a restaurant would rush through are better made at home. Shepherd’s pie as well. So many. I have yet to try recreating special dishes at home better than I have had like lobster bisque, moussaka, egg rolls, middle eastern dishes. Spinach artichoke dip (a steakhouse still makes it better), Garlic shrimp are better at a steakhouse as well. There are things that will be better at a restaurant like crispy pressure cooked fried chicken. The appliance makes it superior. And poutine. Restaurants get the good curds in bulk made for them so its hard to beat a good poutine from a family owned restaurant.

Hi Emmy, Paul & Friends! 😉 Sausage & peppers are a favorite! I love your awesome recipe - I'll definitely make this soon! Money-saving idea: My son likes Coca-Cola & Sprite; but the prices have more than doubled in the last 4 yrs. I realized Kroger always puts their sodas on a great sale at every holiday (including Father's Day, Labor Day, etc). So I only buy at those times and save a ton of money! ps: the turquoise "crossbody bag" has your name all over it, Emmy! 🍗🍁Happy Thanksgiving!🍁🍗

Gifts that impress "others" or gifts that mean something to the recipient. That's what I ask myself when shopping. Paul apparently knows this :) Those sandwiches looked decadent. I love Italian food but admit I'm not that knowledgeable about some of the ingredients. The sausage appeared to have a casing. I've always removed that but, yours seems to have evaporated in the cooking process. Was that due to the slow cooking?

I had to think about your question. I make shrimp pesto pasta. I make winter pesto that uses chopped frozen spinach and a lot of dried basil to keep the cost down. In a restaurant it would be over $20 a serving. On the lighter side we love wraps except the calories in many restaurant recipes. I make the home version using a low carb tortilla, lower fat cheese, a meat or protein and usualy a pickle spear or other vegi. I tried making homemade tortillas and we didn't care for my best try so I buy ones we like.

Love those Mutti tomatoes. I always have some in my pantry to supplement my own canned or frozen Passata. Their tube of tomato paste is fantastic if u ever come across it. Their cans of cherry tomatoes also make a fantastic sauce. Pecans will continue to be expensive because of the bad weather this year so stock up when u can. Same for cacao and vanilla. Check the sugar content on any chocolate chips some of the cheaper brands have more sugar than cacao !

I make a version of Panera broccoli cheddar soup. It's very delicious. 1 medium onion, chopped to your desired size, 2 cloves minced garlic. 4 T butter. 1/4 c APF. 2 c half and half. ( I have used milk, it tastes fine) 2 c chicken stock 3 carrots, cut smaller strips, 1 head broccoli, shredded cheese. You saute the onion until it's translucent, add the minced garlic. Set aside. Take a Dutch oven, add your butter, melt it on medium heat, add your APF, and stir to make your roux. Add your stock and your half and half, bring to a boil, add everything but the cheese. Simmer on low for 30 minutes or so. Check your doneness, add your season to taste. I use Morton Nature season and a bit of cayenne and black pepper. Add your cheese and let cook another 10-12 minutes. I usually make either garlic bread or grilled cheese sandwich. Thank you for sharing your tips.

Each item Paul bought at the church bazaar was great. I would especially like those kitchen tools…😉. I wish I could get my husband to hunt thrift shops for my gifts. He doesn’t appreciate them like I do. He is still working as a self employed piano technician at 72, so he doesn’t have a lot of time to browse like I do. But I’m working on him to commit to retiring soon! I’ve found a store in the next town north of us that has new items at truly good prices. It’s called Bealls (pronounced “bells”). I can find new clothing tops for $15 or below, which is way better than Macys or Dillards! Bealls is a small scale department store. Today I bought several gifts there: a Nerf gun for a grandchild and a beautiful cross ✝️ necklace for our granddaughter’s other grandma (she lives with our daughter’s family). Also found a nice nail polish set for a gift and all of these were so affordable. I love that store. It doesn’t go along with your advice to shop non traditional places like bazaars or thrift stores, but in my opinion it’s the next best thing for new items. Your sausage subs looked so scrumptious…😋. Unfortunately we can no longer eat Italian food with red sauce. I miss it so! Great advice, as always. Thanks Emmy and Paul. Happy Thanksgiving…🦃🧡 -Brenda
