For awhile, he lived in Orange County, CA, same time I did. He is a couple years older than me. In my late teens, I saw him more than a few times at The Troubador, The Mecca in Orange, The Golden Bear across from the pier in Huntington Beach, and probaly 15 other places over the last decades. We all have artists who shaped our lives, but I am profoundly fortunate that Jackson Browne first entered my life when I was 17, sitting in a three dollar seat, 10 feet away from him. Priceless!

Man aint that the truth. In my mind and dreams I'm still the young man whose heart was captured by this music in the 70's. One of the best concerts I ever saw was him with Bonnie Rait as a guest. That show cost me 6 bucks and there were two empty seats in the front row center stage, not the seats I bought, which were empty so me and my date took a chance and sat in them. No one showed up to claim them and for the evening it was as if he and Bonnie were singing to us and us alone as they were less than 20 away right in front of us. I was young and energetic with my whole world laid out in front of me. These days? Not so much but damn it was one hell of a ride.

toddcharry "Having a soft heart in a cruel world takes courage not weakness". Those are such true words. Being true to yourself and not allowing anyone or anything to change that, takes courage and strength. It's easy to follow the pack. It takes strong character to walk alone not hiding behind a mask of indifference. It's a shame that more people aren't willing to do the same. It sure would make this world a much nicer and kinder place. Allow yourself to be genuine.

This song does so much for my soul. For the past two years I have been doing nothing but thinking of past actions and writing songs. This song accurately describes my feelings.

Here's a great story for you guys. A friend of mine was on SNL and got tickets to a Tom Petty show as they had just played SNL. We get to the show, great tix, and Jackson sits down right next to me. I'm so excited. But I thought I'd be chill so I turn to him and say, "THESE DAYS is my favorite song." He says, "Thank you." And that was it. He just wanted to see his buddy play and didn't want to talk to a moron like me, so I left him alone. But I felt like a tool. He's the best. This song has gotten me through a lot of rough days.

When I was sixteen fifty years ago I knew nothing, from where does this music come Why are we all so touched by it ? Look at the comments they are spread over a few years yet we're of one mind. The same emotions the same pain & joy joined by this music, when I think about it, it's a special moment.

Amazing how a singer who had been performing this song for almost 30 years at this time, could pull out a heartfelt performance like this. Yes, DullTorpor, way better than the studio cut. Absolutely beautiful.

Same here. Been saying it for a minute, but folk music is going to be the next place that hip hop goes to for samples. Folk and soul are basically kissing cousins anyway.

So as i have said before their are many things we can do without spending money like kindness. so as I feel at times I wish rather than these post we could all just talk face to face. much is lost, words are not written to fully express feelings. As will and can't replace a moment together. songs music are a wonderful way to escape relax express. truly a art gift we can enjoy. so rather than negative hurtful post. may we all choose kindness.
