Been pruning for 35 years. Pruning is an art. The trick with plum, prune, apricots, you leave some water sprouts off man branch, cutting them 8 to 12 inches long the first year. The spurrs look like small fingers off the side of branches. Last about 7 years. On cherry trees, after you do your main pruning, cot the tip off of smaller non spur branches. This makes cherry produce more and be more compact. Apple, pear, cherry spurs appear with ruff little ridges. NICE VIDEO

Keep making videos man and keep experimenting. Although my climate is totally different from yours, its still really interesting to watch. I live in a temperate no dry season climate, though I think that might be changing because last year we didn't have rains for all of june, and this year all of may has been dry.

Thanks for sharing! I have a lapins cherry as well and I had a couple of bundles too, we’ll see

That is great to hear, for me, for some reason my lapins decided to die. In the fall it started to wither and by winter it was dead. Sad and weird.

This is a great video! I wasnjust out looking at my peaches. Bids have not yet begun to swell, but I noticed a lot of buds that look flat but there are three side by side coming out of the same spot. Do you suppose they will he like your pluary (however its spelled) where they put out 2 flower buds with a ?leaf bud in between them? None of my buds look like your peach trees with just singular buds. But, like I said, nothing has started to swell yet.

Yes, you can have a flower and leaf bud at the same location, Cherry trees have that similar look because they fruit in clusters, peaches usually don't fruit in clusters, when the bud swells it is easier to tell what it will be.

Man that is alot of fruit trees to take care i have about 20 and my wife is not so happy to the point that she wont even eat them and careless she wont water anything. At least my boys will help me from time to time so i hope ur family is happy with ur trees.
@flackfruit7 ай бұрын
Yeah, that is part of the problem, they love eating everything, just not help out with maintaining the orchard. But I would rather spend time in the garden and orchard than watch a movie, so it is enjoyable for me since I am doing it all.

Do u know why my nectarine fruit tree does not get big and ripe? Has tons of fruit but does not get bigger than a golf ball size and it will drop before it ripen..it’s been like this for years now..need help!!
@flackfruit Жыл бұрын
I would thin the tree first so you don't have a fruit for at least a hand width. Prune in the winter so you get less fruit and the last thing is firtlize when your tree is starting to bloom and then a month later to increase the size. If you are doing all of these things, I would have no idea what would be wrong. Do you place mulch around your tree?
@SaiVeseth Жыл бұрын
@@flackfruit I cut down the tree down almost to the ground where are only about 5 big branches left…each of those branches has about lots of fruit..I pruned every year so that they don’t grow tall..each branches give me about 50+ fruits..but none will every get big or ripen in the fall..it keeps dropping..I have not tried mulching..should I pick off 80-90 % of the fruit to see if this will help this season?? Right now it’s flowering..what u suggest me doing?

Persimmons fruit on the green growth shoots so there are no flower buds on old wood.
@flackfruit7 ай бұрын
Thanks, I had a persimmon that only flowered and no fruit and the ones I currently have just fruit with the green growth. But it has taken a while for me to observe it. Thanks for sharing.

I wish I could get on a loudspeaker and ask all of the people who do a youtube to write in the title what zone you are in?
@flackfruit7 ай бұрын
Yeah, but then most people don't find the info from the location, I have put it in some videos, but then they don't get watched much. But to answer your question I am in 8b, but the more I am in my orchard the more I realize zones don't make too much of a difference. I will put it in my content page instead of the title for future videos. Thanks.
