That's the perfect match ! So glad this won the poll ! This series means a lot to me, since it helped me in dark times. I have no doubt you will love it ! I love Tohru's character. She had gone through some hardship but doesn't give up. She can cook, clean up, works hard to keep her life together, doesn't want to bother anyone, is independant, social, lovable... I think she was so attached to her mother because she already lost her father when she was little. Even now, you can already see the cracks in her character. I love that she took a "real" hard job, not the typical maid cafe stuff. Fun fact, that scene in the beggining come from the end of the manga. It was proof back in 2019 they would adapt pretty much the whole thing.

I'm glad you're excited! 2) This is not a 'nice' anime. As I said, it will rip out your soul, make origami out of it, and hand it back to you. 3) I would also not categorize it as romance. There is some but it's not the most important part. 4) Watch the Endings! At least once. I'd love to see your thoughts on those.

When the adventure was over I got surprisingly emotional. I liked the original and I liked the reanimated one. The old one didn't have the finished story so alot of the stuff Is gonna be new. I can't wait to relive this journey with you

I love that every guy reactor I've seen goes into this story expecting it to be a romcom/reverse harem silly-but-cute anime. And it does have those aspects to it at times. At times... Everyone ends up completely invested in the story - even the romance - but mostly because there is so much more to it. This is a long story but so worth it. It will be a total rollercoaster of a ride for your emotions, hitting you right in feels - a huge range of feels from Awwww! to So Cute! to laughing your butt off to wanting to murder fictional characters to ugly crying. Strap in, guys.

This is a great surprise. Lol I was expecting Steins Gate but Fruits Basket is amazing too. Fruits Basket isn’t just a simple romance slice of life anime though. To this day I haven’t finished the series not because I don’t like it but I’m just not ready for emotional roller coaster just yet. I like it though and will find time to finish it soon.

YAY! Fruits basket is finally happening! I'm so excited for you guys to see this. Y'all seemed really into it just from this ep so I have a feeling you'll end up loving it. Jame's reaction to finding out about Tohru's mom and Ninetail just smirking had me dying. Make's me even more excited about seeing your reactions to some other.........things that happen hehe. I totally get the must protect Tohru feeling lmao. Everytime I watch through again I go on older sister defense mode and am ready to absolutely body anyone that hurts her. YAY I have loved this manga for over 15 years. I was so happy when they announced this remake to follow the manga. But yea, this isn't your typical "Romance Anime". There's more than one type of love. You feel like a better person for having watched it. You want deep? You're gonna get DEEP. First season though, it's mostly going to be introducing the members of the family. But hope you stick through it.

I read the manga after the original anime run and when the reboot was announced I was so excited. It was one of those shows that every year the rumor that it was coming back would spread. I stopped watching the reboot at the very end of season 2 because even after waiting 12 years I wasn't ready for the end. 🤧 I guess I'll have to finish it now.

16 years ago I had started a new school year and in an English class we were set an assignment to come up with a 5 minute presentation on something we enjoyed. A girl in the class (we're very good friends now but we weren't at the time) talked about anime and brought in the first volume DVD of Fruits Basket as a prop, it sounded interesting so I asked if I could borrow it and I loved it. And that is how my lifelong obsession with anime started. This remake was everything I hoped for and more this is a fantastic show and has a very special place in my heart.

I’m also a huge fan of the manga. I felt that the anime did it so perfect I even preferred it over the manga. Until we got to season 3. Some things were cut out but where made into and OVA that’s coming out this year. I’m still not sure if we’ll get the full story or we’ll get multiple OVA’s

I love this manga/anime! It’s in my heart for almost 20 years when it was published in Brazil and I have the first and the recent edition they published here. Watching this episode is like reading the first manga all over again. 🧡🍙

I know you're watching the anime with the English Subs, but here's a fun fact regarding the English Dub- they got most of the same English VAs from the original anime for this reboot and pretty much all who returned sound exactly the same! It's amazing and all of them were so happy to come back too to finish this anime. Yes the first anime only covered 1/3rd of the Manga. I remembered when I finished the first anime, first thing I noticed was, "Where's my sign?!" (it's the Rooster, which is portrayed as a bird in Fruits Basket). Also the creator of Fruits Basket was more heavily involved in this reboot so it's more faithful to the manga.

I agree with Tohru need to be protected. Tohru was my favorite character because of her characterization throughout the story. The 2001 version was my very first anime TV show beside Sailor Moon. I read the whole manga series on middle school. They didn't finish and the author of the manga didn't like that version. But this one was amazing right of the bat. You are going to be on a roller coaster ride. They did cover the manga really well and captured the emotions of the story and characters.
