I wanted to search this song on Spotify and discover that Ritsuko abruptly passed away in 2004, from a septic shock, after fighting a stomach cancer for at least one year, at the age of 44, just 3 years after FB anime release. Even if it’s just here, even if it’s too late, I want to thank her for all the feelings I feel every time I listen to her song. FB was my very first manga and anime, I still cry hearing this song, and even more now that I know about Ritsuko death... So thank you Okazaki Ritsuko and may you rest in peace 🙏🏾

I believe it. Fruits basket has gotten me through the loneliest times. After every goodbye comes hello. If you leave things up to your heart then what is there? Not loss. Only the love that was there. And more to come always. Every few years it hits me that I’m really happy I survived my dark times no matter how often they are. Bc I get to come back and experience good things again too. I want to be like Tohru, someone who can offer this type of meaning to someone because I got through it. Staying together means even in our times of loneliness and solitude bc on the other side there’s someone who needed someone like you. I needed your comment. I’m super sentimental lol I’m sorry

Well that's very radical. Here are my two cents. I understand the nostalgia and feelings involved, but I can tell you that in my opinion, if for this reason you didn't want the new anime, you would be missing out on a lot. The new anime is the real Fruits Basket, anyone who isn't blinded by nostalgia should admit it because it jumps out at the sight. It's true to the manga, the original story and the message and spirit that Takaya wanted to convey. The old anime was what an animation studio wanted to do with Takaya's incomplete work without caring at all what she had to say about her own work. They exaggerated too much with the comedy, when Fruits Basket is not a comedy, having several moments of comedy does not transform it into one, it was never AS exaggerated as they did it in the first anime where it was already cartoonish and as the story progresses, the comedy it always remains but increasingly in a secondary role. Fruits Basket is above all a slice of life with LOTS of drama, and it's about the growth and evolution in the lives of its characters. In the first anime they changed things in the story that were irremediable, they made it look like "just another pretty shojo" several times, when it was always much more. Not to mention the animation, which obviously, being a 2001's one, aged very badly. Anyway, I am happy that things have turned out like this because thanks to that I was able to know the jewel that is Furuba, otherwise it wouldn't have been like that. It's my case and that of so many others. This new adaptation brought a revival and a new generation of fans to this wonderful story that it might not otherwise have had. Now luckily we have the possibility of having an adaptation to match what one of the best shojos of all time and a great classic deserves. Anyway, my interest is not to destroy the first adaptation (although for me, it could never be at the level of the new one and the only reason I see why someone may prefer it is the nostalgia factor) but to tell you, for the doubts, in case you don't know, that it's quite likely that your wish will be fulfilled and that the last scene will be with this piece, since it's one of the wishes that prompted Takaya to accept and I have the feeling that it's very likely that as they have been doing, they will respect her wishes and give her the pleasure. Therefore, also to you. Finally, this song seems beautiful to me and I understand why it must be one of the few things that Takaya-Sensei must remember fondly from the first anime, so if it's finally the song from the last scene I will also be happy.

@annaaas21302 жыл бұрын
Fruits basket was the first manga I've ever read and I was super young when I read it. There was parts I didn't understand fully but I felt. The scene where kyo's dad holds him up in the air and says "From now on, you'll have to breathe the air of higher places." I grew up with a single parent household and reading that made something click in my brain. A deep feeling of understanding of my mom and why she worked so hard for my brother and I. This manga has shaped me as a person and my understanding of love. It taught me that love is complex but beautiful. It comes in all shapes and sizes. All colors and ways. It taught me that change is ok. Change is natural and scary. But good. Even when you have bad change. Even if you lose something or someone you love, even when it feels like there is no hope and that nothing will get better. Even in our darkest moments its ok. You'll be ok. It taught me that everything ends eventually. And that's such a scary thought but that's what makes it beautiful. If everything was forever then we wouldn't understand how beautiful and precious life is. We wouldn't understand the space and magnitude that the people we love hold in our hearts and mind. I have a space on my shelf of this story, the whole collection, and it'll remain there until it gets passed on. I hope everyone gets a chance to read this manga and learn the lesson of life and love and changing that it holds.

Hearing the english version of this song for the first time as a child, which was also the first anime i watched (that wasnt airing on daytime american cable), and the feeling of childhood wonder, the comfort and peace of mind of a neurodivergent child who still felt glee over the silliest things. it reminded me of a good time when i needed it, and let me cry and feel my feelings.

I just recently finished watching the first season of the reboot of Fruits Basket. I fell in love with the series so I decided to search for its opening and ending songs, thus I stumbled upon this playlist. Out of curiosity, I decided to listen to the opening song of the 2001 version of the series. It's really beautiful, it makes me feel warm & nostalgic (although I haven't watched the 2001 version yet, I think I should check it out). After reading through the comments while listening to this, I found out that the singer of this song, Ritsuko Okazaki-san passed away last 2004. May her soul rest in peace. Just like the others, I hope this song gets played in the final season. It would really deal a great blow on each of our hearts.

i just had this song bombard my mind out of the blue. it never fails to get me very emotional in a way that is just so different from my usual depression feels. It has been such a long time since I first read the manga, I was practically a completely different person. Yet somehow, this song makes me feel the same. Hopeful, peaceful, mournful, and fuzzy in my heart. Very overwhelmed, yet so very calm.
@wonkybeans7 ай бұрын
It's been 2 years but the feeling is the same. Hopeful, peaceful, mournfull and fuzzy in my heart. Very overwhelmed, yet so very calm. It again bombarded my mind out of the blue and I always welcome it, it's such a comforting feeling re-listening to this song. It gives that feeling of a healthy kind of cry, those sorts of feelings. It's hard to explain, but I hope anyone reading this can experience the same feeling with something. Those old days are nostalgic back when I waas in middle school and found the manga, and the lines "For instance, even if today is painful, someday it will become a warm memory if you leave it up to your heart." feels more true than ever. I've learned how to take the punches life gives and it's helped me finally move on from the things I struggled with in the past. I hope anyone reading this can as well, more than anything. Lastly, if you're having a bad time and you feel down, just remember the bad times and those lows will go away. Sure, nothing good lasts forever. The good times will always pass and bad times may come. But just like the good times, the bad times will pass too. They always will. Life can be an up-and-down battle, but you'll find your stride and eventually come to accept that the good times will always show, no matter what. I think understanding that can make those tough times a little easier to get through, knowing there will always be light at the end of the tunnel no matter how dark it may be going through it.
The remake is better for obvious reasons (it has the complete manga ) but this opening, this op, is God tier. Just make me cry every time

I just love the anime, even the 2001 version. I just really love the masterpiece. This music... I suddenly feel nostalgic, returning to my past and about my old friends. I said: "Why am I suddenly feeling separated? and I almost miss everybody that I loved.I suddenly miss my friends at the primary school, they were the best but, why at early 2018 I moved and, I missed them. I hope they still remember them. And, I miss my homeland so much(Indonesia), I want to return, since 2 years locked in Netherlands because of the lockdown. I want to return, I WANT TO RETURN! I miss my father, he passed away since I was 3 years old(February, 2010), I miss my grandpa and grandma, I miss my old my pals! I should have stayed together, and never break our friendship line!" I caught a homesick.. And there, I sobbed and drop tears, I didn't cry, I sobbed softly as soft as I can. And I was thinking: "Why would 2020 be such a disastrous year?! This is not what it supposed to happen! Corona, BLM, Lockdown protest.... please, I do not want this, this is not the year that I want! No! NO! *NO!* Enough!" I told to myself... and, I was praying if I can return to homeland, I kept waiting for the time to come.. this is not what it supposed to happen. What if 2020s was different than before? And what if my dad was alive, and what if... my life and time went differently than ended up like this? What if the house we got in Indonesia was not going to be destroyed? Because that house belonged to us. Since we did not took care of it because of the corona lockdown.. I do not want it to be destroyed, I want it, because... to keep our good old times and moments that we have spent, a token for our childhood. After i listened to this beautiful music, I felt nostalgic, I missed my friends, my passed away dad, my grand and my grandma... I want to return home. That is all. Thank you.

There is so much nostalgia and sweetness to this song. I used to play the opening chapter on repeat to sleep. Of all the anime songs I know, this one and Serenade have the most special place and feeling for me. I truly love this song, and I wish I had a Tohru in my life.

They still didn't have a song in the reboot that comes even close to this. Say whatever you want about 2001 anime, but this song is 1 in a million match for furuba.

Probably the only thing I really miss from the 2001 version. Hopefully they actually use this song at the end of S3. Btw, Tohru's version of this song(Yui Horie) is the best one IMO.
I loved the remake I just wish they kept this song for atleest an episode it’s so wholesome

Now I am 33 after found a remake of Fruits Basket anime in Netflix. It suddenly remind me for this song from previous version anime. Even though back then it was hard to know the meaning of the lyrics. This songs really place so deep in my heart and give me strength in my youth. Since I face the same condition as Tohru's. This song give me strength and believe that my parents always watching me from the sky.

I always come back here whenever my days get hard. It has really became my comfort and those old hard days do before a warm memory of what I am today. This song always makes me look forward to the next day, and also be thankful for what I accomplished and what I have been through. I really want to enjoy the joy of living and maybe one day. I wouldn’t be here listening to this to cheer me up because I’m simply happy enough to not need it

I have no idea how I got through the last 4 weeks since my last reply honestly. I remember feeling on a cloud of love last week, just so happy. Just happy to love and feel loved. Now I feel my heart ache and I’m not able to cry. I fell back into the same hole of confusion and pain... hopefully it will become better soon.

This song played in a recent dream of mine as I have been struggling with an unexpected loss of a loved one and just regretting so much of my past and how cruel of a person I was. I like to believe I’ve changed, learning to grow and just keep moving forward but even so it’s been difficult. I strongly feel God was the one who made me remember such a gem of a song and the very line I recalled was “You can’t be born again, although you can change” is a powerful yet also beautiful line and makes me not want to give up. I don’t care what others say about the OG Furuba, I will always love you as it will hold the biggest place in my heart.
