can i ask a question, is the purpose of multiple leads and chords and using plugins on each one of them to make the sounds come together and sound more filling/stronger when played together? is there a right or wrong amount of chords/leads you can have in one song?

Good question, you can actually do a fine job with just 1 lead and 1 chord layer... i personally like to blend them, for example i take a noisy lead for the character but i give it a bit more depth/width by layering it with a supersaw... throwing both of them in 1 mixer channel and compressing it a little bit makes it more like 1 sound... i've actually been experimenting with minimalism... you really don't need to layer as much as i sometimes do or allot of other people but i prefer to use simple/dry sounds and do the processing outside of the plugin for more controll.
